So yeah, I was in this bathouse, chilling out in the lukewarm pool after a sauna and a hot bath, and I felt this strange and painful sensation run down the length of my leg. It felt like a really bad case of pins and needles. I moved my leg tentatively and started having these wild speculations about nerve damage. I shuffled around and eventually it calmed down to the level of a mild case of limb sleepiness. After five minutes of this, I moved back into the hot bath where the sensation went away completely. After the heat was too much for me once more, I returned to the lukewarm bath. As soon as I sat down I got another jolt, and then I realized what the strange sensation was: it was a SHOCK. There was a live current in the bath! I quickly left the bath, and got the hell out of the bathhouse.
YIKES! |

That happened to me once in Japan - and it was meant to be that way! They sent electric currents through the water! It was the freakiest feeling... my thigh muscles started having mini-spasms but I couldn't figure out why. I jumped out so fast but nobody else seemed to notice that there was something strange going on. It was only a few minutes later that I noticed the huge sign (in Japanese) telling people that there was an electric current at that end of the pool.
But I'm not sure what the point of it is. |

If you have a bathtub, just plug in your toaster and drop it in with you. I guarantee true Korean culture shock. |

| I got electrecuted from my earphones while running on the treadmill at my gym. It sent me to the hospital, I thought I blew out my eardrums, but turned out to just singe my eardrums, my hearing was fine in a week. |

| Most local bathhouses in Japan will have a small bath with 2 metal bars, one each end that send out an electric current - meant to relieve aching muscles or something like that |

Back in Thailand I got electoructed a few times due to my own stupidity.
Sticking my fingers in the water heater to see if the water was hot enough yet (this normally happened first thing in the morning)
Sticking my fingers in the steam making machines water supply at the gym whilst covered in sweat and barefoot was interesting as well.
My advice. Don't stick your fingers into electrical appliances that heat water without good earthing on yourself. |

| I've tried it as well and couldn't stand more than 15 to 20 sec. then jumped out and was the subject of a few laughs. Some people love it though. I guess they should come over to my old man's farm and pee on the electric fence. |

| Nah, wouldn't pee on it, but we used to grab onto the horse fence and see how long we could hold on. It's a small shock when you get used to it, but lot's of fun at first. |

That's terrible. What was wrong with the earphones? |

I think Thomas Merton died coming out of a tub and touching an electric fan while in Bangkok. Talk about real "fan death", eh?!
He was an awesome writer.

I went on an extended bike trip from Toronto to Nashville, and at the top of one of those damn Appalachian foothills, I stopped for a break by this cow pasture. I was so tired that I didn't notice that the fence I leaned my bike on was electrified. I blacked out for a moment and woke up in the grass. I've got bad luck with being electrocuted. Or maybe I'm just stupid . |

I've been zapped in the ear several times on the treadmill at my gym.
