| It seems to me that the "colonizing" of Mars would actually consist of the creation of bases, fully enclosed living areas, as opposed to nice little neighborhoods sitting in the sun. Work outside in special gear. Etc. The water ice makes that very possible. In fact, if they had found significant water on the moon years ago, I'm certain that the ISS would be on the moon, rather than in orbit. |

Seems you're only really talking about the perceived "future" here.
What of the possibility Mars was inhabited by humanoid life forms in the distant past? |
