Hey hockey fans, have you seen this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upeLPWApt6w (wait a minute to see the actual punch)
Anyway, I can't believe the guy got suspended. Throws a completely clean hit on Modano, sees a dude charge him and in defense gives him a good punch to the chin. Sorry to Robidas for getting knocked out, but what the heck did Tootoo do that was wrong?
Can't believe it. |

I don't know. Look at what happened in the 2 seconds before the punch. You could say that the other player was defending his teammate.
Either way, that was a well aimed punch. I'm impressed. |

I don't know, it's a tough call. Robidas was defending Modano (as he should) and Tootoo was defending himself- Robidas just didn't see it coming. One could argue that Tootoo should have fought him, but whats to say that Robidas wouldn't have just attacked him? This is somewhat similar to the Bertuzzi incident ONLY in the sense of the seriousness of the result--had Robidas NOT been knocked out (and it wasn't Tootoo who has a history of causing sh@t) would he have even been suspended? |

It was nothing like the Bertuzzi incident. Big Bad Bert was stalking a player from behind who refused to fight (cowardly bastard) after he seriously injured the other team's star player in a previous game. Here, Jordan is actually defending himself from a charge. The defensive punch here was inappropriate but not malicious. |

Personally, I thought it was terrific!
Tootoo must have great peripheral vision or a sixth sense of knowing impending doom cause he was prepared! Kudos for the heads up play Jordin!
With all the stickwork going on and people saying he should have used his stick, I thought it was VERY APPROPRIATE! Tootoo is an aggressive little fella from the Tundra, who doesn't back down from anyone. Could you imagine the damage he could have caused with a stick? Inappropriate? Malicious? Give me a break! |

ditto. No reason for him to take that "third man in" just because...pretty clean check, pretty clean bunch (though it was pretty unexpected).
If the suspension was REALLY short (like, a game), then fine. It probably wasn't, (in view of hte rules) the best decision to make but everything else about that incident is great; most everything was clean and it sends a bit of a message too.
I didn't know tootoo wasd a fighter....at all |

you could see that Robidas had his elbow up ready to knock tooto's block off.. as the sportscasters put it.. if Robidas wouldnt' have deviated from his plan of attack he was going straight for TooToo no if and's or but's about it.. .. just too bad he got smoked in the jaw.. i don't see any fault with either.. it was either Tootoo or Robidas that were gonna see the ice and Robidas saw it 1st.. |

What I don't get is why isn't Modano getting a suspension for the tomahawk chop he did on Tootoo after he got up? |

Of course not. I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. If Robidas han't been knocked out, would Tootoo be suspended? I doubt it- maybe a game. If Moore never suffered the broken neck, Bertuzzi's suspension wouldn't have been nearly as long.
