|
|
i want to buy a ps2 or an xbox, but i don't know the best way to do it. i really only care about playing ncaa football/basketball games (maybe GTA i guess), i could care less about any others. so my questions basically are:
1) if i buy a ps2/xbox in korea, will i have to purchase a korean version of these ncaa sports games? won't these be hard to find, and will they be in English?
2) i've heard you can get setups with mod chips, and then you can buy games really cheap in yongsan. is this true?
any advice from someone in the know would be great. |

n00b, go buy xbox360 or ps3. ps2 and xbox is considered as an obsolete.
Plus, both 360 and ps3 are region free unlike xbox and ps2. |

Get an Xbox. Buy an Xecuter modchip. Buy a 400GB hard drive. Download around 100 XBox games and your good to go. |

Second.
Xbox can still hold up with certain titles, especially the NCAA games. The graphics aren't quite as good, but the gameplay is usually a lot deeper.
PS2 is way out. I've been using mine as a friggin' doorstop for 3 years.
If you're going to buy an last-gen console, Xbox is the ONLY way to go. If you need game recommendations, hit me up with a PM. I've plowed through over 100 games in the past 3 or 4 years. |

and how difficult is it to get/use these mod chips? does it take a long time to download games? |

You can probably buy a used, modded Xbox for under $150 and get all the latest NCAA titles ripped onto it for a total of $200.
On a new box, the chip takes about 30 minutes to install, and games take a few minutes to rip.
Most of the guys on Gamer's Row in Yongsan speak English well enough to eeek out a deal for you. Just shop around, don't swing at the first pitch, and I'll bet you can close a deal for around $200 for the total package, controllers included. |

It's not true that ALL XBox 360 games are region-free. A few are, yes, but it's up to the publisher. |

when you say "ripped onto it" what do you mean? would the game itself be on the x-box HD, or are you just referring to the game being ripped onto blank discs?
sorry for the dumb questions, i don't know my ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to this kinda stuff. |
