War as a crime. Crimes against humanity (Iraqis included).
Here's some simple perspective on things. Saddam was ordered executed by a kangaroo court on the grounds essentially that he ordered the torture & execution of a couple hundred unfortunate Kurds.
Using the same logic, those responsible for the bloody invasion of Iraq, should be sent to the gallows 1000 times over.
Why the double standard? The hypocrisy is beyond words. |

What principles? Give me a break. Is Bush a war criminal? Thats the most idiotic thing Ive ever heard. But hell, I know that the mutation of logic the Western Euopean libs call "justice" will make the conviction of Bush as a war criminal much easier than the conviction of he last REAL war criminal that died on them. The Western Euros have their heads so far up Putin's arse that they dont see anything but the *beep* he feeds them. The liberals in Western Europe are so far out of touch that its scary. Then again thats why Europe is a spineless amoeba nobody takes seriously. |
Thank you. That was very informative.

it was. Heres what you learned:
1. People calling Bush a war criminal are morons.
2. People comparing him to Hitler are spitting in the faces of those he sent to ovens and gas chambers....close to 10 million people and more who didnt make it that far.
3. Wester libs are spineless mutations of the human race.
4. They are Putin's little puppets ready to sell out EU and NATO allies for some cheap gas. Spineless if I ever saw it.
5. Spain elected a goddamn commie and sold their soul. |

Technically, if you launch a war that violates the U.N. Charter, and the war did not fall under Chapter 7 as it was not a defensive war then it could be viewed as a criminal war, but the United States is not going to turn over Bush anymore than Britain would turn over Blair. Putin could also answer for warcrimes in Chechnya, if you think about it. So the Spanish judge should also mention Putin if he is trying to be judicial.
So, in a sense, this is symbolic and meaningless. The Bush Administration is populated by Machiavellians whose game went very badly, and American soldiers, tax payers, and Iraqis have paid the price for it. I wonder why Bush doesn't want aids to testify under oath. What does he have to hide? Frankly, I think the War in Iraq was also an attack on the American people and a definite abuse of power and of the public's trust. Most people in America will be so glad when he is gone. I think
the history books will try him. However, I do hope Iraq starts looking better. |

On Sunday, ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo [official profile; BBC profile] said President Bush and UK Prime Minister Tony Blair may one day face war crimes charges [JURIST report] before the International Criminal Court (ICC) [official website; JURIST news archive] at The Hague.... |

So there is an European Judge who misuses his position to futher his anti US political agenda - So what? The US doesn't behave worse than other nations in war.The Bathists , the Khomenists and Al Qadiaists have been after the US for a long time. The US is just hitting back.
Did Saddam give up his war? Nope . |

I repeat... Seriously:
| Quote: |
Noun 1. war criminalwar criminal - an offender who violates international law during times of war
offender, wrongdoer - a person who transgresses moral or civil law.
|
Um... it is a violation of international law to invade a nation without cause. In fact, offensive war is outlawed. Thus, war criminal.
It is a violation of international law to torture, kidnap, detain without cause or counsel, etc.. Thus, war criminal.
There's more, of course.

| 2. People comparing him to Hitler are spitting in the faces of those he sent to ovens and gas chambers....close to 10 million people and more who didnt make it that far. |
Did I do that? It's not quite the correct analogy...
| Quote: |
| 3. Wester libs are spineless mutations of the human race. |
Ah, very informative. What about Eastern libs? Southern? Northern...?
| Quote: |
| 4. They are Putin's little puppets ready to sell out EU and NATO allies for some cheap gas. Spineless if I ever saw it. |
Really? I wonder why he never responded to my dinner invite??

Do you understand the what "germane" means? Oh, you mean the commie then appointed a commie judge? Wouldn't know.
You're stupid. You bore me. Too Jooish. |

Not offensive war Saddam wouldn't give up his war.

Al Qaeda members are military targets .
Remember the US let Bin Laden go to Afghanistan from the Sudan cause the US was worried that they could not convict Bin Laden in a US court.
Wouldn't it have been great if the US had killed Khomeni before he came to power in Iran?

Yep there is more Saddam Hussein was one of the great killers in the history of the world. and would have killed many more if he went free.
Case dismissed. |

Well, actually...
First of all, as far as I can tell a lot of people think Joo's a whacko, regardless of whether or not they agree with him. I think he's a whacko too. I can't imagine a human being writing like he does. Whenever I read a Joo post (which is rarely) I imagine an 8 foot Nazgl sitting in a PC bang typing away furiously with Korean pop playing in the background,
But yes, EFLtrainer, I think you're a bit of a whacko, and I'm not the only one. First of all, taking the Truther line about 9/11 is a sure sign of a whacko, and it's incredibly embarrassing to have the Truth Movement associated with the 'left'. That alone makes me want to avoid being seen to agree with you on anything else. But putting that aside, and I know you claim that you're not a conspiracy theorist about that, you're still 'just asking questions', there are other issues.
A large proportion of your posts feel like they're being shouted over the internet. An angry post with a lot of typos just makes the poster look crazy. It also doesn't help that you're on a hair trigger for calling people liars and idiots and other essentially meaningless invective. Now I'm not really one to talk and, I certainly can't claim that I've never insulted or offended anyone here, or that I've never been responsible for communication breakdowns. But if you're ready to call people names at the slightest provocation, they're not going to bother to pay attention to, let alone agree with, anything else you write, no matter how brilliant your arguments or compelling your evidence. And if they're on your side in the first place, they're going to wish that they weren't.
Which is fine I guess, if you just post here as a kind of outlet for various political and intellectual frustrations - and I think most of us here do that at times. But if you genuine care about getting other people to see your point of view, then banging off sloppy posts full of invective, or making several consecutive posts in the same thread, or being so caught up in your own pathos that you fail to even notice who actually agrees with you - this doesn't do your causes any favours.
Now for some actual content! Here's Colbert daring Democrats to impeach Bush: http://www.alternet.org/blogs/video/49681/
"... or are you pussies? (I think you are)"
edit: oh, this isn't the impeachment thread, it's the warcrimes thread. I'm losing track of what people want to do to Bush. |

This is contradictory. And you wonder why the word "stupid" gets posted so often...
Now, let's define "whacko." Does it mean fringe? 87 percent of Americans believe anything from 9/11 was an inside job to they allowed it to happen.
13 percent. That's fringe. Guess who the whacko is on this issue? Again, as to that use of stupid...

Or it could just be that I am a poor typist (Fact. I recommend Firefox. I just downloaded it. My typos are dropping dramatically because it has a spell checker so all errors are highlighted...) who doesn't give a shit about editing because it takes too much time BECAUSE I'm a shitty typist (fact) who also made a choice before the last elections (See Bush, et. al.; See gopher, scumbag.) to not allow anyone anywhere get away with anymore sound bite bullshit. The truth is important. To me. (FACT.)
| Quote: |
| It also doesn't help that you're on a hair trigger for calling people liars and idiots and other essentially meaningless invective. |
See above. And let me add, most people posting here aren't really so bright. Very few of us have actually made a choice to teach. The rest are just sucking resources from others' pockets. The overall quality of people here in Korea teaching really is relatively low. Beyond that, I hate liars. Always have, always will. hate the PC bullshit people try to cover their lying with.
Genghis Khan supposedly had a peaceful kingdom because he kept things very simple. He had ten laws. Only ten. The penalty for breaking any of them was... death. This is how I feel about justice. A lie is a lie is a lie. It's not hyperbole. It's not bullshit. It's what I believe.
| Quote: |

There, again, is that hypocrisy.

And that is another reason I post as I do. If one is weak-minded enough to be swayed by what is no more than jargon, God help us.

I don't, in fact, care. I expect nobody to change their opinion. But, on the off chance there is a brain out there...
| Quote: |
| or being so caught up in your own pathos that you fail to even notice who actually agrees with you |
Hahahha.... I know who agrees with me in any given thread. I take interactions on a thread-by-thread and post-by-post basis. Why? I don't know you. You could be anybody. I'm not wasting my time tracking who says what on what threads.
| Quote: |

Back to that weak-mindedness.
I recognize this as bassackward attempt at an olive branch. I accept, but it will soon burn when we disagree on some other issue... or on this one... |
