|
|
| Well, I was driving in a colleague's car the other day, and she took out her hand uh pon and put it on the dash and it was instantly a GPS. I thought that was pretty cool. What is up with this? Does anyone have this? Is it an extra service that you have to pay for? How muchee? |

| Hey, where do I sign up for this?! This would really be helpful for finding both people and places in Korea. |

| Nate Drive service from SK telecom. You gotta have a phone that supports it. |

My wife has it. It costs an extra 7,000 won a month. It's all in Korean, though.
If you want an English-language navigation system there's a guy selling dashboard-mounted systems in Itaewon. There's a car audio shop on that street that winds up the hill from the Crown Hotel near where all the auto repair shops are. I got a 7.5 inch unit for 535,000 won and it works pretty well. |

Anybody have this phone? Don't know about the design, but looks like it does GPS pretty well.

I got this little beauty which does GPS. Bluetooth. MP3. English menu....etc.........
http://www.mobile-review.com/review/samsung-d810-en.shtml
It's called the D810 abroad. In Korea it's called the SCH-V745.
The GPS will take a little knowledge of Korean to use. |

Yes, I saw that model in the shops here. Now, is the screen big enough to where the GPS is effective in your car? Or is it too small to see? Is the GPS just a map, or can you type in your starting location and destination? Do you use the Natedrive service for the GPS? Thank you |

Personally, I don't think any cellphone screen is really big enough for in-car GPS. I don't use the phone for GPS. I have an i-station V43 for that.
I haven't tried to program the phone's GPS but I think it can be done. It's all in Korean so quite confusing. I've no idea which GPS provider it uses. I've only turned it on for a few minutes to try it out. It's not as good as the i-station GPS so I don't bother with it. |

| Yeah, using a handphone as a GPS ... the screen is just too small. Really, go for that INAVI PNS from www.inavi.co.kr and I think you'll be thrilled. Don't bother getting more than the 1 gig model, because that just means the thing will be talking more. I upgraded from 512k to 1 gig on my Inavi, and the added talking was a turn-off. |
