|

So I was in a really bad situation in my previous job, so I decided that it would be worth it to change jobs, even though i would lose my severance, flight etc.
So i found a new job and was under the impression from the new organization and the recruiter that everything with my new visa was sorted out and I could go to japan to get my new visa on 20th or 21 of march....
I got to my new job... only to find out they hadn't started visa processing. awesome. So now I'm here at my new job.... 'observing' and not working. I'm not going to be able to go for a visa run until next week maybe on wednesday. So i'm basically not working for 2 weeks. I could have stayed at my last job for this time, while my visa stuff was still being processed. So great, I totally can't afford to not get paid and now I won't get a pay check until may 1st... awesome.
But now here's my question. My former employee cancelled my visa. So i thikn that means i can only stay in korea for a certain amount of time after that. Bceuase of this organizations incompetence, I may go over that time. I think they should have to pay for any fine because it is their fault in the first place. Is this too much to ask??
So does anyone know how long i have to stay in korea after my visa is cancelled? It was cancelled on the 16th and I'm canadian. What exactly happens if i stay loinger?/
thanks! |

Call your immigration office on Monday and ask for your immigration status. You'll need your ARC #.

Once you know your status, you can plan your next course of action- BUT you'd better be planning a visa run ASAP. If the school refuses, LEAVE. |

If you have been fired or have thrown in the towel:
The Bad News : You have 14 days to leave from end of employment.
The Good News :You can go to immigration and extend this once only for up to 1 month in addition. Take your plane ticket with you to immi, fill out the form, no fee apparently.
If you overstay your visa its a 100000 won fine for 30 days or under then ramps up thereafter. |
