Pretty basic question...

How do I uninstall & reinstall Windows? Can it be done w/out the startup disks I left in the US?

Startup disks or original install set? A startup disk wouldn't help you in this case anyways, and without your install disks you won't be doing anything of the sort.

Download or buy a pirated version of your OS. As long as you are using the legal product key that you purchased with your original install set, using a pirated copy isn't illegal at all. It will just be serving as a backup of your original set which happens to be at home.

Don't forget to download your "drivers" before you go about reinstalling windows! You should be able to download them (then burn them to disk) from your computer manufacturer's webpage.

After, installing windows, you need to also install the drivers.

Gotcha. Where do I find one? Can I download it to my flash drive since I don't have a CD burner?

No idea what this is. My computer came with XP pre-installed, so how would I find this?

Also, I have Office Small Business on my computer. I'm guessing I'll also have to download & reinstall that as well...?

hey there,

If you buy a pirated version, go to Johnny Computers in Itaewon (behind the hamilton hotel to the right; next to smokey's saloon). 15,000 won will get you the full windows xp version with serial.

unless you get restore disks or the OS, you will not be able to do any type of reinstall.

you should have a sticker on the computer, somewhere, showing windows xp and the serial number.

If your XP is authentic then there will be a sticker on the side or back of your case somewhere with a hologram strip and your product key printed on it. If you don't have that sticker on your computer somewhere, then it is pirated.

I only offer up the suggestion of downloading XP from the internet (torrent or p2p), in the case that you have a legal product code to use on the installation. With your product code, it is alright to use downloaded software as a backup of your original install set, though I don't endorse installing software illegally in the case that you don't own a copy legally.

If you can't find your xp key. Download this and copy your key exactly. If you make a mistake copying it, you won't have a valid key.

Now that you have your xp key, reinstall windows following jazblanc's instructions.
