It was warmish and bright.
Is there any country where this type of weather is the norm? Thailand goes from warm to hot and humid, korea from cold to warm to humid and hot...is there any spot that stays warmish and bright?
The weather goes a big way towards making my mood.

To make an attempt at answering my own question, it seems that Portugal and California share attractive weather.
The smell of the sea is nice, also the sensation that winter is taking a hike. Not that I don't like winter, it just stays around too long. I like leaves also, that's not something you really see in korea...leaves covering the ground in a sexy 'my dress is on the floor' type of way. |

Due to the lack of interest in this thread I am now willing to offer 10,000 Korean money(Wands) to the first person to suggest to me a location that satisfies my subjective opinion about the following criteria:
- Nice weather.
- Low cost of living.
- No wars/political tension or general unease
- A nice nature vibe. Preferably by the sea but the sea has to smell good (the sea in Korea doesn't really have a salty fresh smell to it...but it does sparkle all the same)
Also, the natives have to think I'm hot. Please bear in mind that I have a bit of a pot belly and I'm interested in personality, as long as aforementioned personality is interested in Prince, a bit of Herman Hesse, and lying on the grass while looking at the moon.
I don't have a special signature at the bottom of my post because life is too dynamic to associate yourself with a particular slogan/motto at any point in time.

I'm in SE Seoul. It rained all morning. When I woke up from my late morning nap, it had stopped. I went outside and the temp was decent.
Is a rainy Saturday your ideal of perfect weather? I can enjoy it--as long as I have the makings for blueberry banana bread, which I had on hand today. Then I made some pretty tasty cream of potato soup. |

That coincedental...or maybe an acausal syncronisity in my subconscious, but I was just reading about Laos today and have actually scheduled a trip for October in my notebook to Laos. There's no Laos embassy in Korea, so I have to get a 15 day visa when I arrive in Laos?
Are you sure there's no military strife / mosquitoes and general unpleasantness going around there? Not that I'm picky, I just feel a certain amount of caution is sensible when deciding on ones vacation time.

In my country we don't get up until 12:30, so I cannot relate to your experience. However, I do remember that the rain stopped and then it was sunny. So, to address your first question I will be direct by saying 'no'. My Saturday was sunny but rainy when I was taking a nap (a polite way of saying I was too lazy to get up).
How the hell did you make cream of potatoe soup? I can figure out the potatoe part, but did you add cream to soup? That's fooling with nature. Creams supposed to be for desert and any qualified biologist will verify that...according to Einstein. |

| I got my visa when I was in Cambodia. I don't know whether you can get one upon arrival or not. Regarding mosquitoes; I took malaria pills while I was there. If I were to be there for a significant amount of time, I would bother taking any. The possible side effects aren't worth it. |

Ha........ugh..........only joking. I'm not into humans, I'm with Nietsche on the whole ecological developmental side of humanity thing that he was trying to start but it never quite got off the "I'm having a party, would you like to come and philosophise about me being superhuman?" stage of a relationship. I've actually matured now thanks to cass red 6.9 and soju, so I think I'll do a midnight runner.
That's not a question by the way. How come the off topic forum is consistently off topic? Doesn't that make it 'on topic' if it's consistently off topic? |

they now give you 30 days on arrival for US$35 easy as pie. Luang is great. Please bring back a couple of cases of BeerLao for the rest of us
BTW to OT, weather seems to be improving, the last couple weeks with the cold and snow stunk. I cant wait until mid April when it finally starts warming up. No wonder I get out of Korea when winter comes, IT STINKS!!! |

Okay, first the weather: average temp of 82 degrees F. National Geographic magazine rated Costa Rica as the best climate on the planet. It�s incredible.
Cost of living: I live in a large two bedroom apartment nicely furnished with a view of the mountains from every window�new furniture, washer and dryer, artwork�down to linens and silverware�$500.00 US a month. I did have a roommate which was no trouble but now I enjoy the space and the luscious breeze alone.
I have a maid that comes by twice a week and does all my cleaning, dishes, ironing, etc. for $10.00 US.
I eat a great lunch everyday (fresh fish filet, beans and rice, salad, bread and ice tea or fresh squeezed juice)�all for around $2.00 US.
Political: No wars or enemies. Costa Rica abolished its army in 1948 and funds the money into socialized health care and education. We have the second highest literacy rate in the world. I live about 10 blocks fromthe president (Pres. Oscar Arais); he won the Noble Peace prize in 1987 for his efforts in stabilizing the region (Nicaragua situation). There�s one little guard house at his house and the his gate is wide open most on the time; it�s surreal walking by his house and having him as basically a neighbor.
The vibe: Totally laid back. Puda Vida (pure life) is a common greeting.
The women: You will have a girlfriend in one day if you want one. A very pretty young one (if you prefer)�this is the easiest and perhaps most attractive feature of this country for the single male.
I could go on and on. I haven�t even mentioned the world class beaches, the excellent food, the night life, surfing, white water rafting, jungle exploring� � �
