From the Korea Times ...

Foreign Porn Sites Will Be Blocked

[joking]Why do some people hate life and all that makes life worth living?[/joking]

Joking aside, part of me does understand this. Bestiality and child pornogrophy is illegal in Canada, so the government cracks down on such sites. Pornography showing genetalia, pubic hair, and penetration is illegal in Korea. So I can understand why the government would want to clamp down on such.

However, it does seem to be somewhat hypocritical in light of the fact that prostitition is technically illegal, yet there are innumerable red light districts, "barber shops," massage parlours, room salons, "tabangs" (coffee shops with special fringe benefits), "restaurants" that only serve side-dish snacks and alcohol, etc., etc. Young Koreans are receiving a deeply mixed message.

Also, while it's true that what's illegal in Korea is not illegal in some foreign countries such as Canada, and thus it makes sense to target foreign pornography sites, it is also true that there are many domestic, Korean porn sites that are just as hardcore as anything from North America. A blunt axe is being wielded where a scalpel is called for.

They can't. It's more bullsh!t posturing by the government to try to make people think they are actually doing something.

-edit--Well, they COULD, but they won't, for myriad reasons (#1: reality)

Thank god I'll be able to continue my access to littleboysknees.com

Statistically, over 60% of the Korean men who passed that rule believe that visiting hookers is necessary.

Personally, I feel the mob is probably getting upset that they're losing money to husbands playing pocket-pool over the internet, so they're putting the screws on politicians to end it. *laugh*

I've only been to Busan twice, but it does seem to have a different flavor than Seoul. Is Busan a den of iniquity? I don't know. Maybe someone who has lived in both places can offer an experienced perspective?

I was always led to believe that Busan was more conservative, then again, I believe little of what I am told.

No more racy car-show girls.

No more foreign internet porn.

What next? Re-criminalisation of sex toys? Chastity belts? This is getting fun! Very Happy

Do as we say, not as we do. I used to think Korea was the virtuous, conservative nation when I first came here and Japan to be the perverted, sex crazed nation. Now I know better. Korea is just as bad, if not worse. If Koreans were at least honest about it and didn't talk about the decadent, morally degenerate west the way they do I wouldn't care.

That eye4insanity blog is pretty good too. Shows a very ugly side of Korea and the utter hypocricy of it all. A brothel owners association? ㅋㅋㅋ
