I've been plugging it as much as I can for the last few weeks, but this is going to be the musical event of the year in Korea. The world's best ska/reggae band, the Slackers, is coming to Korea to play two dates in Hongdae. I saw them live in Edmonton in 2003 shortly before coming here and it was the best show of my life.

The first show has Suck Stuff, a very hardworking Korean punk band that you can't leave the country without seeing, and Kingston Rudieska, Korea's only real ska band who play bluebeat stuff in the vein of the Skatalites.

The second show is at Skunk Hell, Korea's main punk club. The openers will be Rux, who are one of the top punk bands of the country, and Ska Sucks who have lousy taste in band names (their singer designed these posters).

Here's a map that shows both clubs in relation to subway stations.

Here's a promotional video from them about a DVD they're on.

And here are three mp3s for you to listen to (but don't tell them!).

nice posters. I'll be at DGBG. I'll make sure I say hi instead of just randomly yelling out your esl moniker n passing. Looking forward to a good turnout. I'm trying to tell as many people as possible.

Yeah, you'll probably see me floating around the door.

Was it you who called out "Race traitor!" outside DGBD a few months ago? It was a very surreal moment, and from an objective prespective people would've thought you were some kind of racist. It gave me a laugh. Anyway, make sure you say hi this time.

Yes. It was snowing and it was surreal for me too.

People, do something different this weekend! Check out a great band and have some fun!

Oh yeah, this really isn't all that important, but I'm going to be DJing at both shows between sets. There is supposed to be a 30-minute gap between the openers and the Slackers. At DGBD there will be a drink special in this time, but at Skunk you'll have time to run across the street to the 7/11.

I'm pretty sure I'll be at DGBD. Downloaded a lot of Slackers stuff recently and it all sounds good. Plus I trust RACETRAITOR when it comes to music. See you all there! Cool

My hope is if this tour is successful, we'll open up the doors for ska and reggae acts to come through the country.
