They used to rule the oceans for hundreds of years. Now they are getting boarded and kidnapped by camel jockeys! Has the world gone mad? |

The Navy has faced cut backs for many years now, we have less than 30 Ships if you exclude the small minesweepers etc.
I think boarded is a bit strong. Intercepted whilst transitting back from the boarded ship on RIB's to HMS Cornwall. Although that in itself raises a few issues.
HMS Cornwall should have been very close to the boarded vessel. Lookouts, a sniper and if i remember correctly the waist gunners would have been on watch. So how the hell did the Iranian vessel manage to get in and intercept them? |

How many ships you have now isn't as important as how many you can crank our during wartime.
The US cranked out how many ships during WW2 after Pearl Harbor? I don't remember the exact amount, I just know it was a staggering number. |

pkang agreed, however with the decline of the shipyard industry in the UK, US and many other countries it would be nowhere near as many nowadays. China, Korea & Japan are the largest shipbuilders now.
Either way less than 30 ships is poor for an Island nation IMO. |

Why don't you ask GAJ to make you a "Whither Britannia?" icon? |
