It is not the end of the world and not really that bad. Still, I wouldn't have done it and wouldn't pat the guys on the back (not saying you did, that is just a general comment).

Wow, did a big lump of lead just fall out of your ass. The relief

the main difference in what happened here, and what happens in north america (which i'm surprized no one mentioned) is when people storm the feild at home, there is rarely footage of it, because the networks tell the camera men to stay off them. the more the show it, the more people will want to do it. if they videoed it and flashed it on the news, then they caused more of a problem then there was. no one really seemed to mind at the game, a lot of people laughed.

What they did was not that bad at all, it happens everywhere. I'm sure there intentions were not to spit in the face of the korean people or it's team. the game was boring, it was a bit of comic relief. In a strange note, i think i went to university with one of the guys who did it, and i always thought he was a nice guy. i'm sure there was no malice involved.

I bet not.

I hope that's a joke. Are you stocked up with 4 months of food and water for the big flu that's going to get us? Or can you use the left overs from the Y2K bug?

So I guess the new regulations regarding the transcripts and the statement we had to sign regarding the validity of our degree were just products of our fevered imagination?

And the months- long crackdown on illegal teachers in 2006 was nothing? People who'd been here for years said they'd never seen one before that lasted so long.

I think one of the reasons they got off easily is because it has never happened here before and they didn't know how to deal with it. I am sure the next time it happens, they may not be so lucky.

Pitch invasions happen once every while in the K-League and the reaction has always been similarly laid-back to it all, usually with security escorting the folk off the pitch and helping them back into the stand. They don't really seem to punish crowd disturbance very heavily here, and I've seen people lobbing trash cans and snack shop tables onto the trackside at matches in full view of the lone suit-wearing security goon with no repurcussions.

Two Suwon supporters set fire to a GS advertising banner in the Seoul stadium during an FC Seoul-Suwon game last August and I think that in the end all they had to do was say they were sorry.

One of my adult students and I briefly discussed it, and she smiled. I did think it was kind of funny that one of the t-shirts said "I'm kind of a big dog". It took effort and planning. I hope they plan their lessons that way, too. However, I don't condone the behaviour. I can understand that in Korea they would kind of let Koreans and foreigners off the hook for doing this. They are not as arrest hungry in Korea like people are in other countries. They hardly arrest anyone for anything.

Well, that happened because of illegal teachers. This has nothing to do with teaching. If they start asking for proof for entrance to soccer games, maybe we will regret it. Stop being so negative.

It has all to do with motives.

Take monopoly as an example. There are some people that play it because they actually believe that getting a house on Fifth Avenue is the 'be all and end all' of life and all their mental processes is preoccupied with having their camera on that particular area of the board. These are the people that see the game as something that exists in and of itself beyond the conditions of time and space. These people are of the opinion that it isvwrong to interupt the game for no other reason than 'the game is the game'.

Then there are the people that have a larger scope than just the rules of the game. They are concerned with the environment of the game, the people and rules upon which the game is played. This is your average everyday individual.

Finally there are the people who play the game as a game. They see the rules as a reference point for having fun. The rules only exist as a platform of fun.

Now, to bring this back to our conversation about the people 'invading' the pitch I'd say the following:

The people that think that football shouldn't be interupted, regardless of anything, belong to the first category that I have drunkenly defined.

The people that think that football is for having fun, but only when fun is referenced to the rules of the game(soccer and societies rules about what is a civilized game), belong to the second category.

The wise, children, and zen masters belong to the third category.

Breaking News (in Korean)

Rough translation:

Quote:
March 24th, Seoul Sang-Am WorldCup Stadium

Last Saturday at the soccer friendly, a pitch-invading foreigner impressed the cagey Korea manager, Pim Verbeek. The foreigner has now been selected to start in the next A-match.

Verbeek gave him an enthusiastic thumbs-up during the post-match interview, noting that "The lad's got tremendous pace and composure... [M]oments of brilliance evading the defense.

With a minute left on the clock, the foreigner launched a blistering 80-yard diagonal attack directly onto the pitch until he was brought down by a flagrant double-tackle. The late surge left the South Americans in shock and disbelief.

Sky Sports rated the foreigners debut at an unprecedented 8 out of 10 despite the short duration of the performance.

"Deserved a full entry on the pitch"

After a cursory background check with the Mapo Police Department, the man is expected to be revealed to the national squad in preparations for the 2007 Asian Cup.
