Alrightas a good friend of all the guys who ran onto the field, Ill set this story straight.
The running onto the field wasnt premeditated at allit was a spontaneous, drunken decision. The guy who busted onto the field (in all red) just finished his contract and they wanted to do something hilarious for his last weekend. The mustache part was plannedthey told their schools that all Canadian males grow mustaches in March and that they had to keep the tradition going in Koreathat in itself is pretty funny.
Secondly, the whole group of us started drinking around 3:00 that afternoonso clearly the irrational decision to rush the field was influenced greatly by a few pops. Although that is all anyone has seen of them, its definitely not an accurate judgment of their character. I can assure you they are all great guys who love to have fun and joke around. You 35-40 year old lifers should reminisce and think about some of the stupid and/or funny things you did when you were young and drunk and lighten up.
Also, out of the four guys (2 tall, 1 red and 1 baby blue) only two of them are from the Maritimes (yes, spelt with two is ajgeddes) The other two are both from Ontario. Ironic that you would question their youth and intelligence, when as a fellow Canadian, you cannot correctly spell Maritimes.
As mentioned earlier, the one guys shirt read Im Kind on the front and Of a BIG Deal on the back, a play from Will Ferrell and Anchorman
There were no handcuffsthey were just dragged/carried off the field holding their wrists and legsand for the recordthey were provided with some food and beverages after being detained
I know from speaking to them they didnt mean to cause such a huge scenebut at the same time, I think its a bit of an overreaction.. |

Oh, I don't have to. I'll just use the pre-existing nuclear bomb shelter that I had excavated as part of the overall foundation work. Yes.
So there were _FOUR_ of them in all. I've completely ignored this story, including this thread until now, for fear it would induce debilitating tedium. So I had only seen photos of two of them. Four, huh. If I were choreographing this, it would be two Americans & two Japanese, and they'd be wearing "I *heart* Apollo!" and "Takeshima Is Ours!" T-shirts. Then we'd have a proper test of how well Koreans respond to comic genius. |

You know, I really find it funny that the one person you attack in this, is the person that was defending it the most. Also, picking out typos is usually the sign of a weak argument. Do only young people make typos? I didn't realize the elderly never did it. One more thing. Do you feel like Maritimes is a put-down? I was just clarifying that they were from Canada. Lighten up.
*EDIT*- The immature comment was actually said by people who know them from university. |

Could be the sign of a weak argument...IF I was arguing something in the first place.... all I was doing was clarifying what happened.
While I appreciate that you were one of the few (or only) people to 'defend' them in this post, my comments were definitely not an attack against you. You were the one who stated they were 'not the most intelligent' people (before you edited your post) - you saw them after 8-10 hours of drinking so obviously your opinion is going to be a bit skewed.
Also, the Maritime talk wasn't a big deal until other posters started generalizing about the entire east coast....and I'm not even from one of the Atlantic provinces... |

| Anyway, I know everyone involved was sorry for what they did. They didn't intend to disrespect Korean culture in any way, and if they had of known it was going to turn out as such a big event they wouldn't have done it. Hopefully this will all blow over... |

| They didn't disrespect korean culture. Anyone who thinks they did and who thinks there will be repurcussions towards foreigners from this event is deluded. |

WHAT will blow over??
There is nothing. NOTHING.
Your friends are goofy, fun-loving types who had a lark running round the pitch. They got some beer and food. Were released and now one of them is being scouted for the national team with the support of the Netizens.
I mean, there will be lynchings, but only for Canadians and all other white people.
Chillax. |

I made the intelligent remark, because running out onto the field during an international soccer game isn't the most intelligent thing to do, no?
The first thing you need to realize is that a lot of the negative posters on this board are keyboard warriors who will put down anybody to make themselves feel better. Don't listen to people who say that make stupid general comments about groups. |

I took about 200 pictures.
Funny thing is those stupid americans were sitting in front of the whole time, saying stupid shit. The sequence was pretty funny tho |

They were being stupid yelling across the crowd and not just in staidum but in the bathroom and shit. And it was them who ran into the pitch.
It was stupid but i did get a good laugh out of it because the security guards kept slipping and falling. |

Which one of them were you? The one with the Korean T-Shirt or the fat ass one? |

Now why would you do that? Have you no shame? Or are you just dumb?
Youre a foreigner in another country, therefore youre a guest. Act like one, and dont ruin it for other people. |

Nope, that's what the "it was great and funny" posters decided to turn my my eye-roll level of dismay into. |

If you're going to be contrarian, please make sure you quote properly when you are taking a position, as you are responding to an nonexistent point from my OP. My OP regarding play:
| Quote: |
| So three Caucasian idiots invaded the pitch in the middle of play. One tall dude, one fat, bearded Hippie wearing cammo shorts and a Korea Fighting kit, and another. |
Middle of play means "during." Time is not relevant.
| Quote: |
It was in the 90th minute, after a very dull and frustrating second half.
|
Why dull and frustrating? I thought Uruguay were play wonderfully. Dull for who? Girls? Koreans? Canadians? Footy fans quite liked the match.
| Quote: |
It was hilarious, but not a very significant episode in the grand scheme of things. |
No one but tfunk and Ecuminist mentioned anything about it being a gigantic deal. It is another small thing though. |

Yes. The effect would resonate better if you'd have waited for someone to think this IS the "end of the world"--which would have happened I am sure, had you held off a little longer. |
