.... I have a recommendation for you.
Just picked up the gf the best-looking 32" LCD TV I've ever seen. It was a new Samsung PAVV model, and we found it for 1,100,000 won in Youngsan. It' is a 1080i TV (at that size, 1080p is a total waste of money).
The picture on this TV smoked every other TV in every shop -- including mine, which cost almost 3x more . We checked both Younsan and TechnoMart. Gorgeous deep, highly-detailed black levels (10,000 to 1, but looked as good as the insanely-priced 15,000 to 1 50" monitor we saw), resolution, and detail (better than the PDPs, which is insane). Color was outstanding.
My 42" Full HD LG XCanvas looks great, but her 32" makes me jealous. Actually, it won't matter because we'll get married anyway (haha)..
Here is the link to hers, although we found a cheaper price:
http://www.mple.com/prdt.do?method=prdDetail&noPrd=1030740001&BscCode=enuri&DtlCode=enuri-005-000
There is also a PAVV model with more rounded corners which gives an identical picture.
By the way, we noticed that the new XCanvas models at this size no longer rotate on the stand (although the XCanvas ones have a removable stand so you can mount it on the wall). She wanted the ability to turn the TV, and I agreed. |

Thanks for the info! I think that I'll go and check this model out with my gf. We might get the 40" model, though. |

All of the newer PAVV's are looking great these days.
If you're going to get 40, you may as well go 42. |

Umm, we go for 40" because they don't seem to make 42" model.

I think you're talking computer screens vs. TVs?
42" is a standard for LCD/PDP TVs, and 40" TVs are very available, but a bit less common. |

IG, you're better off not getting that, because the resolution is 1024x768. In Korea, you should go for the 1366x768 resolution (1080i). That's what most HD content around here is broadcast at.
Those models are cheap because they're probably discontinued old stock. |

It's got 2 HDMI inputs, I know that for sure. I don't think it has DVI. You know, there are cables which go from DVI to HDMI though. I think they work interchangably.
There is also an S-video, Cable wire, and RCA inputs for sure. Digital audio in (laser). I'm just reading that off of the link I provided in the original post.
It will be delivered on Saturday. |

Umm... I'll ask her the exact store. I'll be happy to post it. You can find that model all over in Youngsan and other places, but prices vary. I see it's dropped a bit in price at one store on enuri. |

Nope. I was talking about TVs. I tried to look for a 42" but didn't find any. That line you recommended seems to have 32", 40" and 46" models... and 46" is a bit too pricey for us right now. |

I don't know where you were looking, but if you're talking LCD's and PDP's, then you'll find 42" units everywhere. They are the 2nd most popular size, after the 32" models. The place you were looking was probably sold out of 42" TVs.
A good place to see many models together from many companies is Lotte Dept store in Myondong. Buy elsewhere, though, as prices are cheaper. Technomart is a good place to look because there are even more -- and, of course, Youngsan (but they are spread out a bit). |

I know that there are many 42" LCD, PDP and CRT TVs out there. But this line of TVs, the one you recommended, do not come in 42". At least I couldn't find any references with the almighty google. The only models I found were 32", 40" and 46".
Here's what I did.
1) Followed your link and copied the model number of that TV (LN32S81BD)
2) Pasted that on google
3) Replaced the 32 with 37, 40, 42, 46, 50...
4) Was able to find 40" model of that same line, but no 42".
Conclusion: This line of TVs do not come in 42". Peace! |
