Just an update of new resources you can find on my site.

I've created a new Professional Development folder with many materials new and experienced teachers alike will find inspiring. Lots of videos which demonstrate teaching methods and techniques. Also some light stuff and more to come. Some good videos on teaching reading and writing to young learners.

EXTRA ENGLISH. This is a British TV series for ESL / EFL students. About 4 teenagers in London. The language is very low and accessible and not at all British really. I like what they've done and it really gives students "REAL" language exposure and is also great for exposing students to cross cultural info.; holidays, traditions, lifestyle etc.... First 10 episodes up and more to come if people use it. Click the British flag.

Also see the REAL ENGLISH short videos concentrating on target language in the More Videos for the Classroom folder...

Another teacher has offered to share his materials. Great! But unfortunately still trying to find a way to link to his site (myotherdrive.com). Might have to download them myself and post on my site....

Teaching folder: lots of lesson plans from Discovery network. For higher level students.

Korean Karaoke: I'll be posting a lot more of this. A start with, "you are not alone" Live with SG Wannabe and Epik High

Presentations: Great phonics presentation of all the letters. Audio to come shortly and play with the presentation. Students listen and repeat. Great for them to use at home and for Korean teachers whose pronounciation is not up to par.

Breaking News: I put up some of their news articles in my BOOK NOOK folder. Plays on karaoke and reads like a teleprompter, the news story goes across the screen and students follow. I'll design a few more. Each news story has a CLOZE also, with words omitted. Students listen for the info. Adjust as you see fit, maybe there are too many words omitted, its too busy. Also, slow down the tempo so it is read much slower! Good feature on the player.

Lots more added daily. If anyone has something awesome to share. PM me.......

I just added many new powerpoints in the presentation folder on my site. Lots about history and also a couple of songs done in powerpoint. Particularly good, load the song into the same folder with them and you are set.

Lots of new prof. development stuff also.

But most notable.

Powerpoint books in the Book Nook. Working on Korean Folk tales and put up two so far. Same as above , load the sound file or read yourself to your class using the big screen. Heungbo and Nolbu and The Korean Cinderella.

VOA. I have begun putting some of their excellent articles into karaoke. Get the player and play these great, authentic stories. I like this one about Bungee Jumping. Comprehension questions following each listening. Wait for them to hit the screen.

Hopefully next week, I'll get some time to do some site housecleaning and also add more explanation to many files...

Cheers,

DD

mrsquirrel,

I love that slide of "sad" in your adjective folder! You are sick......

I tried linking your myotherhardrive site on my site but it won't work. They want registration and bla bla bla......hope all this over registering stuff doesn't continue. I like things no fuss and muss. just click and go and see for yourself.

I will use your Can Can't powerpoint. Cool. like the Harry Potter. I know you will also like my powerpoint songs in the presentation folder. Check them out...

Thanks for those books too, I put in my adobe folder......you've caught the spirit.

It's a pest to have to register but it was the only way to upload that volume of stuff easily.

I can't see your adobe folder or the other ones.

Why is that then?

Hey Jeju!

Awesome site. Won't open full screen so I don't know how it might work full class but still very neat......a great fun way for students to practice English! You can get them to record what you do in the class and then share with each other!

I also like the sound quality, the recording tracks of the karaoke. I have a library of about 4.000 karoake songs but none really have such good, rich sound...(sunfly).

Mrsquirrel, I will have to look into that problem. I continually get messages, requests from teachers so all seems well. Though I do wish more people would comment on the site contents. Meaning, how it works, downloads fast/slow, use, what materials are the best.....etc....

But I do understand teachers are busy...

JEJU, I am just flying off to your island to run the 200ks around it (race). So if you see a guy along side the road, looking like Forrest Gump, wave. I start Sat. 5am from the city and will run clockwise. Arrive back about midnight .

More about singshot....

What's cool is that you can record your voice with the song into an mp3 file. Then just put into one of my karaoke files (replacing the original mp3 ) and you have your voice over! Could do this for the whole class easily and it would be terribly cool and motivating for the kids.

Great way to personalize the classroom/learning....

UK Nova has limited account availability. They do appear regularly so it is worth checking back.

If it's appeared on UK Nova it may well appear on other trackers as well.

They don't do invites so I can't help you there. I'm sure there must be a Dave's user with a UK NOva account and 26Gb HD space free to seed it on another tracker.

Update on my site....

1. I put together a WRITING folder. Click the writing icon. Lots there and really will help those who have to teach a writing course. Lots for all levels but especially for higher levels and powerpoints which offer a lot of very good modeling (like the old style teaching by modeling using the overhead...). The videos are great for instructing how to design a writing course.

2. Sesame street videos - click the video icon. Lots of favs. Numbers, letters of the day...count vs cookie monster. I will download some more soon and also add some subtitles to some.

3. Korea - multimedia presentations about Korea. Great for open ended language lessons....get them talking about Korea.

4. More Korean karaoke as well as other karaokes.

5. VOA - voice of America karaoke articles on a variety of subjects. These are at a slower but natural seeming speed with discussion questions at the end. Just load and go. Also breaking news english karaokes on some subjects. I have also downloaded the breakingnewsenglish teachers book in my adobe folder. Loads of materials there...

Plus lots more here and there, especially in the prof. development folder...

Cheers,

DD
