ok so I know how people berate others for pulling runners and the like. So I really do not want to do that, but I'm getting screwed at my school

Background....

Yesterday my boss fired a teacher cuz she couldn't work till 630, the boss changed the hours of our school last month and this girl had a kid and could only stay till 6. Well "the mothers" didn't like that so she's gone
Today I walk in and all of her classes have now been dumped on me.
I teach kinders for 4 classes straight in the mornings. When I signed my contract I said, I DO NOT want to teach kinders, I don't have the ability to teach them effectively. Sorry, I just dont.
Anyway's I've been teaching 2 kinder classes anyway, and getting through it, trying to do my best. I walk in today and I get all of hers too. Umm, yeah, social studies and science? with 5 minutes notice? THanx
Anyways, there is alot of other stuff that I don't want to type but here is the deal..
I'm on an A-3 visa and hence don't have to leave the country. But the boss is a typical hogwan director =snake If I quit and don't get a LoR (which I know I won't get) can I still get a job elsewhere?
Will I be blacklisted?
Do you think another director will hire me even if I don't have a new E-2 stamp? I mean I have the one from my current school so its not like I can't teach, and I won't be in the country illegally, cuz of the A-3
What are my options?!?!?!?!

I don't know how the A-3 works but you probably cannot get another job with a new E2 unless your current boss gives you a LOR. I really feel for you, as I worked at a hogwan where we went from 4 FTs to 3, which meant going from a relatively light load of crap to a very heavy load of crap. I got a LOR but had to get nasty to do it. Do you have bilingual Korean friends? If so, I can think of some ways you could put a gun to the director's head if he really deserves it and you really deserve a better job.

i do know some bilingual koreans.
And I hate to even think about quitting, but I just read a thread where someone was complaining about 7-8 classes a day...

Before you quit...if it's not already too late....

try to tell the boss that you will only teach your regular class load.

He must find a replacement and it's not up to you to cover for a problem he created.

If he insists, which he will, just say no and keep saying no until he gets the message.
Then just teach your regular classes and leave.

I know it's hard, but you have to stand up to your boss or it will only get worse. Don't be angry, but do be firm.

We need you to teach...

No

But we...

No

You have to

No

But...


No. You have to get another teacher.


Do it or you're fired!


OK. I'll be leaving today. Laughing

so..the other girl that she fired..didn't have a bachelor's degree and was getting paid under the table. Along with another girl that she fired last month. Is there anyway I can use my knowledge of this against the director if I have to without burning the 2 girls?
I know how to get in contact with them.

Get a list of the parents' phone numbers. Don't get nasty unless you really have to, but you'll have a source of ammunition with which you can freak the hell out of him.

Remember that if they are still in Korea you would be screwing them if you went to immigration. Just say 'No' if he fires you, lucky you.

Has he paid your pension and healthcare? What about taxes?

Never heard of an A3 visa, how do you get them?

I'll try and see about getting phone numbers. I know a couple kids I could get it from but others not.
And A-3 is a SOFA visa. given to dependents of people stationed here in the military.

So I talked to the director today, I'm still teaching all the other classes but she agreed to have her assistant do the lesson planning and help with set up. So I got a small victory.
She was very interested to know if I had talked to the fired teacher though.

Just wait till payday and quit.

You are A3 and protected from the crap that E2 holders have to go through.

For all intents and purposes you are like an F-visa holder in your ability to change jobs. You ARE tied to the base. You are NOT tied to your employer. The USFK is your guarentor not your hakwon boss.

Find a new job.

please tell me you know of PUBLISHED paperwork that says I can bounce on this job. I can't find anything that says I can do this. Even the base lawyers haven't been helpful in giving me hard evidence.

Have one of your Korean friends call Immigration directly, explain the situation, and ask about your status. Mind you, you might get 3 different answers, depending on who you talk to at Immigration. I can only imagine that seeing as your employers aren't tied to your visa, that there is nothing they can do. You do not need an E2 visa to work, and therefore they cannot blacklist you. Give your notice that you are required to by your contract, and move on.
