| P.S. Can you really dispute my remark: "yeah man, hey! I just bought that monster Samsung memory". |
I'll say it: I just upgraded to Samsung 2GB of DDR2 PC5300 sodimm (2x1GB) for my iMac C2D and I'm happier than a pig in mud. The RAM that I pulled out of the iMac was also Samsung: the 2x512's were from China, the 2x1GB's are from Korea.
Somebody was mentioning enthusiasts before, but I didn't see any mention of the Samsung spinpoint drives: for several generations now, Samsung has been putting out hard drives that are incredibly quiet and have little vibration. Now, I'm not a performance enthusiast, but a SFF/quiet PC enthusiast, and having owned several different types of hard drives, I can indeed confirm that Samsung puts out quality, quiet hard drives.
Other Samsung products I've had: CRT TV (6 years old, still works), DVD player (broke after two years), printer (3 years old, still works), 17" LCD (2 years old, still works), VCR (broke after five years), and many different pieces of RAM - all of which are either still working or worked when I sold them. I like Samsung when it comes to hardware, as I've had very few problems with them. It all comes down to personal preference, really - and customer support, of course. I've never dealt with Samsung's A/S, so I have no idea how good they are. |

| Well, I am also not a big Samsung fan, but it all depends on what I am buying. |

| My previous Samsung HDD was a lot quieter than my current Seagate. A lot. |

Both internal.
I've never had an external HDD. But I might try one soon. Do they operate at the same speeds as internal ones? Are they faster if you use Firewire? |

| I've used HDD from all the manufacturers and the only one I had trouble with is my Maxtor 7200rpm 250gb drive. |

slower. Firewire is marginally faster than USB2.0 but the nice advantage is for archiving stuff to free up space on your drives in the case. Plus the ability to actually move large amounts of files between locations with ease when necessary - I've only done it a couple of times, but it was really worth it. |
