I'm looking to buy a second hand, good quality mountain bike. Hardtail (front shocks/suspension), Shimano gears, something light, like crome-alloy perhaps.

Does anyone know where I can find a good quality, not over-priced bike in Seoul? Also back pannier bags...

I'm planning to ride JeJu Do in summer. Anyone done it? I'm assuming you can easily take a bike on the plane?

There are many, many bike shops around Seoul, but second hand may lead you to want adds. Airlines usually charge you more for taking a bike, but I haven't dealt with the local ones here. I know an honest shop in northern Seoul, but the don't sell used (or don't usually). PM if you want their info.

Mountain Bikes are a lot more expensive in Seoul then you're probably used to. Pretty average imports from Taiwan, although with quality componentry, start around $500. There's a few specialty stores in Gangnam that have websites you can look at. No links, sorry.

If you want second hand you'll probably need a Korean friend and the local paper.

I know, not used, but if you order anything online, it's free shipping. I bought a Kona online (from a Korean shop), and had it shipped. Free. Same things with most accessories, usually free if you buy a minimum of 50,000 or so worth of product.

You CAN get used stuff, but you probably need a good Korean friend, or be able to read Korean, as on the Daum message board/classifieds, you'll sometimes see them. However, usually the tiny sizes.

In Jeju it is the best shop there... I think they can supply you a bike for rent- and they are the ONE and ONLY pro shop in Jeju so you coul djust not buy a bike and rent one from them...

Or if you are way into training you may just want to buy a bike there instead I guess you could get somewhat fit if you spun hard for 45 minutes or so in a health club 4 times aweek I would find a good shop that can also give / charge you a bit for taking apart ur bike and put it into a box - you can do this if you have tools (pedal wrench... alan key set ...

I would also tell you to make sure you bring girl spray as it seemed every girl I might stop and talk to on a bike wanted a picture with me and our bikes in front of the sea--- of course they had to hug me as well I could put pictures up...

But these small kids were harmless and I asked for their picture - but watch out for those Uni girls on vacation ... then again they are good for a free meal and friendly halting conversation

You also must take your bike on the ferry and ride around cow island and also you should be sure to get pictures of some black coated skin dive ladies hitting you with their goofy buoy net contraptions those girls use to store their catch on the waves in

Wow c00L so ahh why don't you come up to Formosa and ride around the Island or maybe just the East coast with me? Hmm then again since you do not seem to have a bike I would guess you are not A Monster of Power And Speed like me I do not like to go slower than 22 mph ever.... But ahhh ell that is crazy no-no- I'd say just do Jeju much less of a bother than here. So, you will have to put Jeju pictures up too... or not- if I were a lady I be somewhat careful on posting my picture you could get stalked by a ESL Daves Reader... me on the other hand- Well let's just say I am way way angry at seeung my life put on screen in Shooter - they ripped that movie right off of my life, however the FBI never touched me though I taunted them when they were training house to house on my base... But ahhh what this all has to do with you is that ummm I think you will have a sweet time in Jejube sure to eat the Jeju only fish it is called ahhh "okdom" err sounds like OAK-dom (same as the tree and the last part of kingdom..)
