My ARC shows an extended date but my passport shows nothing.
Is this correct? One of the assistants went to immigration and did this on my behalf.
E-2 on my passport expires in a few days but my ARC extension takes me till the end of April. |

If the back of your ARC shows a new date then you are fine.
They do NOT mark an extension in your passport unless you get a re-entry permit at the same time. |

You're probably fine, but call your local immigration office tomorrow and ask your status. You'll need to give them your ARC number. |

Don't bother to call Immigration. Ttompatz is correct. Your ARC was extended and nothing in your passport. Standard procedure. |

Some would say going to the emergency room because you've got the sniffles "can hoit"... others (such as myself) would say it's a waste of time.
OP, you're fine. |

I had my F-2 extended a few years ago. They wrote on the back of my ARC, did nothing to the passport.
Don't worry about it. That's the way they do things. |

My girlfriend had the same thing. In fact, in her case it was quite strange as she was originally issued a 3-month E-2 for some reason! |

The E-2 is always given for three months. You have to have it stamped by Korean Immigration in order to validate it for a year before those three months have passed. |

You are fine. However, you should be aware that if you had a multi-entry visa, that is now gone, so if you want to leave the country and come back in the coming year, you need to get a re-entry permit.

It depends what your school requests. My first visa was for three months, but the second one was for one year (no validation required). Others I have seen have also been either for one year or for three months. |

The E2 has a 3 month ENTRY validity but the indicated PERIOD OF SOJOURN would be 1Y (1 year). (have a look at it and you will see).
She would have to register within 90 days to get her ARC (as required by law) and the end of her valid period of sojourn would be indicated on the ARC. |

How would a simple phone call be like an emergency room visit? Just verifying the status is easy to do. You don't want any surprises. |

This is good question from the OP.
My visa started on DEC 22nd, 2006, but I arrived in Korea on JAN 4th, 2007. My ARC does not have anything entered on the backside, but on the front side, under my picture it reads:
2007.01.11
2008.01.05
I have been wondering if I needed a visa extension too. We better be sure on this one. Also I may want to stay in country for an extra 2 weeks. |

Why would you need a visa extension if you just got here a couple months ago? You are OK until Jan. 5, 2008. If you need a couple weeks beyond that, you can go to immigration next winter with your plane ticket to get the extension. |
