So my contract is up soon but I want to stay for an extra week to wrap things up, pack, etc. Are there any specific laws that would enable me to stay in my hogwon provided apt till I am ready to leave?

There is a possibility that they may want me out the last day of my contract.

Yes, the last day of the contract is when you are suppose to move out unless there's any labor board dispute.

But it all depends on your boss. You can ask to stay extra days or week.

Don't they have somebody new coming to work the day you leave who needs your apt?

I've never heard of anybody staying more than a day past their contract's end.

Then again, it really depends on the situation at your school.

Yes. The law that says "you don't own the apt".

It takes a week to pack?

If someone new is coming to replace you, they need the place asap. Thats not unreasonable.

If you've got personal stuff to wrap up, stay in a motel.

What schwa said.

That sounds more than a little goofy.

Is there something wrong with staying in a motel? If you can't afford a couple bucks a night for a place, do you have any friends to put you up?

I am not wasting my money on a motel after a year of pure hell. I only want to stay for a week after my contract.

When your contract expires, if your boss want you to move, you don't have any choice.

No choice, no law. Technically, he gave you ample notice to vacate the apartment, unless you have something signed (even then it's not for sure). To be honest, your discomfort in a motel would be much less than a newbie having to be put in a motel for their first week (and not allowed to settle).
