So, I love Korea, koreans are nice blah blah blah...

But what I really dig is that Koreans love to give me candy!!!

Seriously.

A day does not pass without a Korean giving me candy.

The lady at the stationary store gives my husband and I candy every time we go in.

My students bring me candy almost daily.

The bus driver gave my two girlfriends and I candy.

The man who owns the little store across the street gives me gum every time I see him.

The bartenders give me candy.

The guy at the pizza shop gives us several candy bars when we go there.

I gave up my seat on the bus to a little old lady and she gave me candy.

My husband carried groceries for another little old lady and she gave him a handful of peppermints.

Awesome.

Just awesome.

I was walking home last night from Homever without an umbrella in the rain. I was standing alone at the crosswalk and then suddenly it stopped raining. A young man my age had sheltered my head from the rain with his umbrella. What a kind man!

I didn't get candy, but I thought I'd share this story on this message thread.

This happened to me too! I had just arrived in Korea and so had monsoon season. The guy next to me at the crossing looked more distressed than I was at me getting wet so he shared his umbrella with me all the way to the bank.

Korea does have its little charms....

No one's held an umbrella for me yet... but I did get coffee candies today from one of my middle schoolers.

And 6 pounds of baby lobster from my boss.

Yeah, what is the deal with the random candy give-age? If I actually ate all of the candy that I get I would be one fat lady. Everyone does it: grocery store people, fellow teachers, students, missionaries, random people on the street.

Nah, I believe that's a picture of the person posting.

I haven't seen Silverman's movie called Jesus Something. Right? Was it good?

Yeah, it's me. And I've gotten the Sarah Silverman comparison before.
