I've never been a fan of Gangnam. It's good for eating or the bookstore, maybe a beer or two. The people and the clubs, though, are not my thing, not in Gangnam anyway, where so many people are putting on airs.
Also, I cannot fathom why anyone sane or not a millionaire would spend enormous amounts of money on girls. A trip to a cheaper country would make more sense to me, though I realize many Koreans are not crazy about foreign things, places and people. |

| i just noticed how these kinds of post seem to get flamed right off the bat, but then the flame dies down and the real jist of the OP is somewhat adressed. So what I truly wonder, is why these kinds of posts get flamed? Or dismissed as "newbie"? Does making observations about Korea's sexual culture (which basically overshadows the rest of the "culture" it still has (far more motels than temples)) make you a newbie or a moron? I'm not going to hint that it means you are getting laid while certain other people are posting on eslcafe and/or watching a guy make noodles in Insadong, but I will say there are different aspects of Korean culture that different people focus on, and that all are valid and not to be scoffed at. Just because someone makes an observation about sex in Korea does not automatically qualify you as a moron. |

I rather enjoyed the OP's insight into the Gangnam call girl culture. I have much disgust for the women in it, but the OP wrote the article with such an even-hand that it would well find a larger audience in a Korean newspaper.

It seems to be gang up on Princess day on this thread. Flinging mud at sex workers is crappy work, Princess, and betrays a problem (jealousy?) but I do admit the reply seems to have gotten out of hand. Just to clarify, the following is not part of that.
I just think it desperately needs to be said that an awful lot of women think the exact same thing you're faulting some men for. It might even be more women than men who promote this. And it's crappy and stupid and wrong, and if you've seen it a long time, as I have, it becomes fun to poke holes at for mildly evil reasons.
A lot of those same women think because they are thin, they can be anything, including a better lover, and consequently, cop an unsexy attitude that they needn't try as hard. And I'd just like to lay it on the line and say from more than enough experience that that is just so much shiat. Having loved thin, fat, slightly muscular, toned, and average women, there is nothing about being thin that makes a woman a better lover. Some of them are lovely, but in fact, there's quite a bit about being thin that could make a woman a worse lover. The only reasons I can think of that Koreans go on and on about the emaciated look must be that they're trying to channel pedophilic inclinations, or the image of cleaving that non-existent a*s reassures their questions of male size (fault of western porn) or it must be from not being allowed normal childhoods so they get all that adolescent body-comparison stupidity out of their systems at a much later, more unattractive age, e.g. by doing things like praising the emaciated look while simultaneously criticizing others for doing the same.
(And no, I'm not fat. I just think there's some need for humility here. As soon as our society stops stigmatizing sexually experienced people for talking about their experiences, I think we'll start to see the end of this over-promoted fetish for unhealth. Until then, it's amazing how the internet will cause so many people to forget themselves. )
Which is why I'd like to start Korea's first "Really Vain, Thin People Need To Be Bi*tch-slapped Into Some Humility" campaign. What's the deal with this country? I find myself still asking after three years. |

Actually, in many cultures the women are more conservative than the men. George Bush had lots of Conservative Christian women supporters. I am not equating that with princess. I am just poking a hole in your presumptuous argument. Also, some feminists who are secular are against prostitution. You can be on the Left or the Right and disagree with it. It depends on the person. |
