Do you mean specifically an Apple i-pod or will any MP3 player do?

You would like an Apple Nano. You can change the menus to English no matter where you buy it.

There is an Apple Experience store in COEX mall.

Personally, I wouldn't buy another Apple .mp3 player, though. My gf's crapped-out just after the warranty, and I have two friends who have experienced problems with theirs within 4 months to 2 years. Considering I know about 5 people who own Apple .mp3 products, that's not very good.

The I-River models are pretty cool these days.

Some questions :

- How big is your current collection, or how big is your music collection going to be?

1 song = 4mb

100 songs = 400mb

1000 songs = 4000mb

10,000 songs = 40,000mb (40gb)

For most people, 4GB is enough but if you also store videos then you'll need a bit more. The whole purpose of the portable media player is to playback commonly used stuff usually copied from a main computer (backup). Some people prefer to copy everything on their mp3 players, which sounds convenient but when things go wrong, you can expect to lose ALL YOUR STUFF.

- Where will you get these songs?

You can buy them off the net or make copies from CDs. Of course, if you already have the CDs you can also download them from the net.

- Do you think you might want to playback videos?

Some people want this features to watch TV shows or documentaries (like learning Korean) while they're on the go. If so, then you'll need a media player with a bigger hard disk (storage to contain your music/videos).

- Are lyrics useful to you?

Some people would like to read lyrics of their songs on their media players.

- Is size important to you?

Some players are very small, but are also small in features and performance. Others are bigger and bulky, but contains more features.

- Is design important to you?

Some people want to be seen holding something cool and stylish. Most of the mp3 players out there are unique in design.

I just bought an mp3 player that also plays video, read lyrics, records from a mic and line in source in a case just slightly larger than the size of a credit card. It has 4gb of storage, not nearly enough for a power user like me, but it accepts SD cards which is shared among my cameras and PDAs. These will probably reach 32 or even 64gb in capacity. The best thing about my mp3 player is that there is no limit as to how much music I can play through it.

Hey Amber,

I'm hurt that you think we are such ogres in here...

this isn't the buy&sell forum Cool.

Everyone's here to help for the most part.

I suggest iRiver. I have nothing but good things to say about my old 128MB that I used to have. It's a great Korean brand and an international name these days...just don't drop it.

lol. there are ogres all over daves. one can never be too sure. design is not important, though i would like something that doesnt require a cart to push it along on. pocket sized perhaps. 100 songs should be big enough, i can just swap them out when i get sick of them? and no videos needed, i'm a pretty simple girl when it comes to electronics and make up Razz

If you don't know much about electronics then you should go with a flash player like iriver, samsung, or iaudio. Get a 1 gig player.

Ipod's are fickle and need to be treated with care if they're going to last.

Big fan of IRiver here. I think that would be a solid purchase, and doesn't sound like you need anything more that 1 gig, that should take care of you.

If you want to go cheap, there is an I-river model that sells for 80,000 won at Lotte Dept. Store in Myondong. It doesn't show the songs, but holds 1 gig. Saving songs on it is simple, because you just plug it into USB (via the provided plug, which you'd better not lose) and drag/drop. You can create folders for songs, too. It's called the I-River S7. It sounds great. I've heard it. Simple (perhaps too simple), cheap, small. Sounds better than the comparable I-pod shuffle.
