You know you're Korean when . . .

the only computers games you play are Starcraft and Maple Story.

you're only seven years old, and you already have an intense hatred for the Japanese.

You know you are a Korean when..................

1. ..........the only card game you know is "One Card".

2. ..........the only music you know is Korean manufactured K-pop.

3. .........you have no knowledge of world geography.

4. .........you think Korea actually one the world cup in 2002.

5. .........you open up a bar, and the name of the bar has nothing to do
with what is inside (or vice-versa).

6. ........you think the "Korean Way" should never be challenged.

7. .........you think that people in the world actually care about Korea.

8. ........the only English question you can muster up is "Do you like
chicken?".

9. .........you only know two spices......salt and pepper.

10. ......you think that the only beers that exist in the world are OB, cASS,
and Hite".

11. ........you can't think for yourself.

12. ........you can't counter argue, or much less answer, any questions
that arrise about Korean culture.

13. ...........you look away and refuse to answer when someone asks you
a direct question.

14. ..........you think that Jeju oranges are really famous, and the best in
the world.

15.........you can't figure out that turning up the heater to maximum power
in the winter is NOT a good idea.

16. .......you were a sweater in the beginning of September, eventhough
it is still 80 degrees outside.

17. .........you have never heard of bands such as, Oasis, Pink Floyd
The Rolling Stones, U2..........

18. .........you are unable to tell the truth about anything.

19. ........you think that Koreans are actually a pure race of people,
magically appearing on the pennisula.

20. ..........you think that your country could whip Japans ass.

21. .......you think that Korea actually defeated Japan in WW2.

22. ..........you think the best beaches in the world are at Jeju Do.

23.......you are incapable of traveling by yourself.

Well, that's a start.

cheers.

...it doesn't alarm you in the slightest when a bus bumps the curb in order to pass a line of cars.

Wow. After reading this thread I've come to remember all the things about Korea(ns) I seem to have forgotten about since my departure in late 2000. I guess little has changed in the last 6 years. Anyway, I laughed and laughed while reading this. I especially liked the post about the Brussels business trip. Koreans seeming inability to try non-Korean cuisine whilst travelling always irritated me. Having lived in Brussels for 4 months, I can attest to the awesome food and beer available there. I wonder what the hotel staff thought about the aroma of kimchi permeating the place. lmao Don't get me wrong--I love kimchi, but not in Brussels.

Allow me to add a few of my own:

You know you're Korean if...

You cannot speak English without saying the word "maybe" before every sentence. Ex. Maybe my wife is very beautiful.

You feel that stopping at stop signs and red lights is optional.

You think all non-Korean women are sluts.

Whenever you meet a foreigner and learn in what city/village they are living , you feel compelled to tell them what that city/village is famous for. Ex. Oh, do you know Naju is very famous for pears?

It doesn't occur to you that drinking all kinds of special soju probably just makes you think you are more virile, while in fact it makes you less--being that it is alcohol.

You think that showing up to your university classes with nothing but a cell phone is being prepared.

You don't think there's anything strange about people driving around your apartment parking lot in little blue trucks at 6am screaming at you through a loudspeaker to come and get your bag of onions for only W10,000.

Dude, this is like when people complain about taking shoes off in the house.

Some things they have got right. Move along, move along...

Now if you had said...

...when you think your cold and tasty summer treats need red beans in them...

...you'd be on to something.
