|
|
I am sick with a cold, and for the first time ever have absolutely no voice. I can't squeak out a sound. At all. I went to my doctor and he stuck a scary probe down into my larynx and of course determined that I have acute laryngitis. Says I need to rest my voice for 1 week. ACK! I got a doctor's note.
So I sent a text message to my boss, but haven't heard back yet. I work at a hagwon, and I really like my boss, my job, the kids. So although it would be nice to just take some time off, I might actually try to do the silent teaching thing.
BTW, I do have meds to take, have to drink lots of water. But can anyone recommend certain teas that will help? It would be nice to get my voice back, but even if I do I still want to "rest" it because I feel it's pretty severe right now.
So I'll go in to work today and attempt to occupy my kids time. Any suggestions for activites/games? My kids range in age from about 6-15, most of them in the 10-12 range. My classes have 1-12 kids.
Thanks for the help. |

Strange, because I also lost my voice yesterday. I came to school today but all of my classes have been cancelled. I'm hoping it comes back soon as this is pretty boring, and I'm not totally sure how it happened. I don't have any other cold symptoms but did have a heavy weekend on the sauce so maybe that has something to do with it. |

It must be going around. I had it last Sunday. I was mad it wasn't on a school day. |

Guys, I would put good money on all your voices leaving you due to the massive amounts of sand and pollution in the current sky (hwang sa)
Anyway, make one of the students teacher for a few minutes, then switch the person up (so everyone gets a chance). Have them *teach* for a bit. |

Omija tea.
It's the best thing I've drunk since I got here. With a little honey (or without), it's great for your throat. A Korean friend or colleague is bound to have some or point you towards some. |

That must be the same protein drink I used to let my gf have when she had a bad throat. |
