Since many of you came out to see the Slackers' show last weekend (either at Drug/DGBD or Skunk Hell) I thought I would post up the shows that are buzzing about this weekend:
This week at Drug/DGBD
April 5 (Thursday) Thursday Punk and Rock in Drug/DGBD at 20:00 (10,000 Won)
This show will be in every Thursday with:Cobalt Blue
Carve
Sunday Punch
Plastic Heart
April 6 (Friday) at 20:00 (10,000Won)
Dance Punk, Rock and more:Free Market
Bloody Cookie
War Dish
Kyung-Won Snack
April 7 (Saturday) CD Release by Galaxy Express at 20:00 (15,000Won)
This is a show NOT TO BE MISSED! Punk, Proto-punk, Surf-punk, and Hardcore all in one night:Galaxy Express
The Moon Shiners
99 Anger
Kick Scotch
The Waking Party
April 8 (Sunday) Punk Classic by Crying Nut and Friends at 18:00 (15,000Won)
The regular Drug/DGBD show with all the best:Crying Nut
RUX
Rock Tigers
Kingston Rudieska
Come on out and enjoy the shows. Buy some beer and support the bands and the bars that host them. And seriously, if you haven't seen Galaxy Express, you haven't seen the best new band in Seoul. Do yourself a favour, get up outta that chair, out of the PC Bang, and treat yourself to live entertainment. |

So much for taking next weekend off. I have to see 99Anger, and that Sunday show with Crying Nut and Rux looks great. I'd love a chance to see Kingston Rudieska again while not on duty. |

It should be a busy weekend and I hope that a lot of people turn up. There have been (IMHO) too many amateur/cover bands playing lately, and frankly I am sick of hearing that song "Ave Maria" ad nauseum. It will be fun to have more professional acts in. |

I think a weekly live music thread is in order. I know that brokeinkorea keeps a calendar but I thinka weekly thread on here would be good. Anyone who knows a show of any nature happening in that week/weekend can post it and then when the week is over the thread could be killed and a new thread started for the following week.
Anyways, Electric Eel Shock is supposed to be coming soon. That'll be a rad show. |

I had thought about that - making it a sticky that only lasted for a week, but I didn't want it too look like too much in-your-face advertising. Would it be possible, mods, to sticky this for a week only? Would others object to that? |

Hey guys. There's already a live music sticky on this forum. |

True, but that is for "foreigner bands" and a way to network "fellow [read: "foreign"] musicians" and it is now 15 pages long. The bands I am pimping are Korean bands and not a segregated foreigners-on-foreigners kind of scene. That and I am proposing a temporary sticky. Barring that, I will just have to shamelessly bump this during the week. With help from Racetraitor and others interested.

I don't advertise every little show on here because there are just too many. If there's something big like an international tour or a charity show I'll plug it but otherwise I don't want to overload you guys with endless threads about Korean bands.
By the way, this thread definitely doesn't belong in the sticky at the top.
There's also a skinhead/hardcore/straight-edge/skatepunk show with a great lineup at Skunk Hell and a Team Dread show down in Daejeon. By the time the weekend arrives we'll probably know about six more shows.

How about a weekly semi-sticky (renewed regularly or removed) with live shows being pimped... I'd be up for that. |

That sticky at the top for foreign musicians is kinda lame.
It wouldn't be endless threads...it would be one thread and it could have a rule: only show information, no other replies. So someone could post info for a punk show in Hongdae, another could post about an international dj in Kangnam, another could post about a jazz band in Jongro etc. Then, Sunday night, that thread is removed and replaced by another one for the following week. |

The good news about Skunk posters is they put the new one up at the same URL every week, so we wouldn't even necessarily need to make a new post, just bump the old one each week. |

I really like this idea. Mods, can we do this? I would have loved to know who was playing where in Seoul (or elsewhere for that matter) when I first got here. It would be a great entertainment resource. |

[shameless_bump]Still no response to the idea of a temporary "local entertainment" sticky? I agree, no responses allowed, only advertising for shows...[/shameless_bump] |
