Hey! Can foreign teachers see dentists in Korea? Does health insurance pay for it? If not, is it prohibitively expensive? What about just a teeth cleaning? Are there many that speak English? Would you have to take a Korean teacher with you to translate?

Also, is it possible to get birth controls pills in Korea? Do you have to have an exam to get them? Is it just like in America or is it scarier in some way? lol Do you think the birth controls pills there are as effective as in the US?

Dentists- insruance pays for a small portion. Its expensive, but not any more than it is in America even when you have dental insurance. Most of them speak minimal English. Where are you? I"m sure someone can recommend one to you.

BC- Most people here seem to use Mercilon Its an international brand. I have a lot less mood problems with Mercilon than ay other one I've tried. http://www.mercilon.net/ http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100001620.html
To get it, you don't need an exam. Just walk into any pharmacy and say "mer shi loan". Its in a pink box.

I just got back from the dentist a few minutes ago.
Some parts of the visit may be covered by insurance. I had an x-ray (which they didn't change me for, but a friend had one without insurance and I think it was about 30,000 won. X-rays at the hospital for other things were about 7,000 won), descaling (30,000), and I have 3 cavities. One kind of filling is covered by insurance and should cost about 3,000 won, but the dentist told me today that it is a weak material that they generally only use for kids. The other material will cost me 100,000 won for a small filling and 150,000 for a large one.

BC - Yes, Mercilon. Costs between 5,000 and 8,000 won/month (depending on the pharmacy). It's a UK brand monophasic bc.

Anyone get invisible braces that are removeable? I want to straight my teeth up while I'm in Korea, without getting the real braces.

I got a root canal and a gold crown and it only cost me 450,000, which I think is much better than in America. Hell, getting a tooth removed once cost $250
