Is there an Amazing Randi Jr. or some protg waiting in the wings, ready to pick up the wand once he takes his final bow? Because the last time I saw him must have been 10 or more years ago, either being interviewed or was a guest on a German TV show, and even then he was hardly in the pink of health or the prime of his life. Maybe he was jetlagged, or maybe he's just one of those people who look ancient & decrepit for half their life. All I can say is, I sure wouldn't have thought a dude looking that wizened in the mid-90s would still be kicking & blogging in 2007. Shocked

I hope so. It looks right now like the closest ones out there are Penn and Teller.

As far as his famous Million Dollar Challenge goes, I don't suspect anyone will carry that on. There are a lot of regional skeptical groups that have such prizes (much smaller awards tho). The Million Dollar Challenge has changed as of late. It's no longer an open challenge but more "invite only", open only to the big named psychics. This is a move I don't really like. It IS nice to have a big money open challenge out there you can direct every wing nut to.

Unfortunately, those are the only ones applying for the prize. The John Edwards and Sylvia Brownes who know they're fulla crap know Randi knows his stuff and they don't have a hope or prayer to fool him in a test. The big names learned that rather early on in the test. So it's been basically people who really do think they have psychic powers and raving lunatics. This was taking up a lot of Randi's time, going back and forth with the nuts who can't even articulate what power they have.

Every new decade since the '70s, I'm always surprised Ed Asner is still alive.
