Smog, the Motorstorm demo was so good, I ordered that, too.
I love driving using the motion-sensitive controller. |

I think it's Yellow Dog who are providing a PS3 linux distro.

| gsx can you monitor the download speeds? If so, how fast do the demos come in? Is there a local Sony server? |

Yeah, and it's interesting that the PS3 menu even tells you how to do it (sort of). So they're all for the idea. I wonder if future PS3's will have that functionality added?
As for downloading from the Sony store... I'm listed in English, and entered my address as my home town in the USA. Not sure where it's downloading from. If I chose Korea, it's all in Korean, so I skipped that.
Well, I am given the file size and there is a percentage bar. I will time a few. Most demos are between 200meg and 800meg or so. I seem to get them within 30 mins to an hour or two? Might be less... I have to look. They cue up and download one at a time. I will time one tonight or soon, and let you know.
I can tell it to download in the background while I'm playing a game (but the downloads stop if you view a movie). If you are on a bad wifi connection, and are logged-off, you have to individually restart them (kind of a pain).
The Sony store also has about 5 to 10 movie trailers in available in different sizes in Standard Def up to Full HD (although bitrates vary, causing blockiness in fast-action scenes sometimes).
I think there are about 10 free game demos right now, give or take. You can also buy some simpler games (ps2 types, I think). |

| my gf n I were at an army guys house on the weekend. He has the ps3. Sony definately pumped up the new system from the last one. The bluray player is super cool. This guy also has a 63' tv. We watched the guardian...I swear I could feel the water... |

The PS Store has about 30 game trailers, 30 movie trailers (theatrical and bluray), and a handful or more downloadable games that range from crap to entertaining for short periods of time. Flow is pretty cool when you want to chill, or give your GF an excuse to hold a controller.
You can see what's available here:

Let me know when you get Motorstorm in! Online is tough as nails! |
