|

I've been here for 2.5 years or so, on my original E-2. When I signed my latest contract in September, they couldn't extend my visa at Immigration, due to the fact that my passport is expiring this month. Now I have a new passport, which has no visa in it. I guess I should take my new and old passport, and my e-2 to immigration...is that all I would need?
Anyone have this situation before? |

Legally you are required to report the new passport to immigration within 14 days of it being issued.
If you need to extend your period of sojourn (expiry date on the back of your ARC) you will need to go through the same process as a contract extension with the same documents.
ARC,
new passport,
contract with dates clearly indicated,
bosses business registration
guarentor form from the boss. |

thanks for the response!
I just got the passport on Friday, so I should be within the 14 days. Sounds like I'm good to go for tomorrow...
cheers

Simply notifiy them of the new passport and you are golden. You have to do this anyways unless you want to get fined. |

If I am not mistaken in reading the OP, I think he may also need an extension (april to sept) so kill 2 birds with one stone and make the visit to immi. |

I was a little vague, but what I meant was that notifying immi of the new passport will enable the OP to get a visa extension or a new issuance with another employer. Problem solved. |
