Hey Princess, sorry I couldn't meet up with you last night. I had to do my laundry.

Cancelling appointments or postponing appointments are subtle ways Koreans tell you they're not interested in you.

Also, if someone of the opposite sex only agrees to meet you on Sundays, that too is a bad sign. You're officially in their "foreign friends" section. That's two sections down from GF / BF, and one section down from Korean friends. Very Happy
This may not mean anything, especially if the person's day off is Sunday.

I am not generalizing. I am talking about ONE person.

Oh right I forgot you're not supposed to judge a book by its title.

So-called Korean friends, as in MY one friend I am talking about. My other ones are fine.

Kinda flakey if you will... Thats how many Koreans are...Maybe they do not intend to be offensive, but they are often starkly offensive, cold, unappreciative, inconsiderate, forgetful of critically important things, and downright rude. It's thier way of acting out the negatives in relationships and dealings in an indirect manner inside and outside of work without resorting to violence, screaming, and threats. Sure takes an open mind and tolerance to be compatible with living in Korea as to not hurt thier feelings with a negative response to all this hoopla. They expect you to suck up all these negative responses from them, then be cheerful at all times, and then immediately speak Korean fluently. Not very realistic in my opinion...Well, I have maintained patience for 3 months and feeling not so sure about Koreans and Korea.

Unappreciative? Yeah, I hear ya. I have this one coworker. I bought her a present for her birthday AND went to her party. She couldn't be bothered to do either of the two when my birthday came 2 weeks later. Rolling Eyes Whatever.

Mine have so far bought me a sweater, a cap, several boxes of biscuits etc, taken me on 2 trips, paid a slap up meal on my birthday, and taken me out to dinner on 2 other occasions.

Laughing sweet, I luv them!

I won't even start with what my friends have done for me and given me, let alone perfect strangers...

Explaining how to get there is more of an annoying thing, and a headache, whereas showing you is both easier and more sociable, provided you're not in a great hurry about it. The important thing is for you to enjoy spending time together, and to feel that kindness has been exchanged rather than mere information.

If you're coming over as either uninteresting to get to know, or less interested in her friendship than in information, she's less likely to find time for you...and if she can't be bothered to find time to show you, she's even less likely to bother her head about the complicated process of explaining where something is to you. Complicated-bordering-on-impossible when it's in English.

I'm just trying to put into words the way I think she sees it.

Your best bet is to give up on her and find another way.

I'm a bit surprised about the behaviour of your other friends because it's understood that one should reciprocate gifts and favours here. Could be you're just in with some rude people; or it's something about you.

It's better to give than to receive.

I was just thinking exactly this...hehehe...A Korean princess doesn't want to compete with a foreign princess, I guess. That's why she didn't show up at my party, maybe. She couldn't stand not having the spotlight on herself. Rolling Eyes
