The locals notice this, it most likely isn't new to you, you had them in the west too. It is the locals making a point of spotting these darker shades that makes you aware of them. Do as poster jhelin says...... or just don't give a flying rats arse about them!

If you say 'dark circles' to a Korean they know what it means, it's Konglish(!). I think having dark circles indicates a build up of toxins. Which could mean hangover, or overloaded/toxified cleaning organs of the body (liver, kidneys).

Next week; "Why do I have grey hair and a fat bum?".

I have developed a touch of the black circles under the eyes, and am wondering what the cause of this could be. Admittedly, my sleep schedule could be better, but even when I sleep to my heart's content they don't completely go away.

Is it cigs and drinking-related? Vitamin deficiency?

I would appreciate some ideas on how I can make them go away. I am otherwise in good shape (basically), so there must be something I am doing or not doing. And maybe others have this situation or know about this?

Help a fellow EFL-er, and feel good. Thanks.

Wait a minute, gotta clear something up. You asked if it was cigs and drinking related, but then you say you're in good shape. So which is it? I mean, do you smoke and drink? Or is it 2nd hand smoke?
I just find it a strange combination..and still being in good shape on the flipside..
