I just got married in the Philippines to a national here and I'm moving on to Taiwan to teach English there rather than Korea.

Anyone have experience in this area, or know the process involved in sponsoring a filipino wife on a resident visa there?

Thanks a lot.

I brought my wife to korea from the philippines. More than likely, she will need to apply for a visa. Almost all filipinos need visas to travel anywhere in the world. Might be easier though since she is married to you. Just call the taiwanese consulate in the philippines to see what they need.

Dave's also has a Taiwan forum. It's not as active but it might still be more helpful to ask there.

If she's your wife, wouldn't that make her a Filippina?

Not PC - the language has gendered nouns & adjectives, unlike English (generally).

I lived for 2 years in Taiwan, and it's bad enough to get your own visa, which has to be arranged through the school. Some of the schools I know of are willing to get your spouse oked if they are teaching, but I'm pretty sure she is on her own if she's not teaching.

Oh and when you go there, don't work for hess or english sky...you'll thank me later
