I've never seen one in Korea. I grew up with golden retrievers; they really are the best dogs and I really miss her back home. As far as price goes, 1 mil is about right, as long as the dog is from a good breeder. I think my family paid 800 for our current one, and that was 10 years ago. |

I saw a golden retriever for sale several months ago here on esl. I just saw an adult 'goldie' near my school in Apgujeong the other day, so obviously they are available here. As far as $1000 for a golden retriever? I'm not sure where you are from, but unless that dog is from a registered championship bloodline that is unheard of (being Korea, that price wouldn't surprise me). They are great dogs btw. |

I have a dog I'll pay you to take (because he hasn't been fixed yet.) Oh, and not because he's a bad dog but because my housing when I go back home won't allow dogs. Unfortunately, he's not a Golden Retriever. But maybe if you wear those yellow sunglasses and squint your eyes... |

He's a jindo mix. He's more the size of a cocker spaniel. |

Ok, I'll try not to blast you too hard.
Here are the reasons its much more ethical to adopt an animal. Ask youself these questions
1. Why are you wanting to get a dog, specifically a Golden Retreiver? If you adopt a stray you are saving an animal that is otherwise facing a cruel death, if it ends up going to a dog farm the way they kill them is by beating them to death. I won't get into how Koreans treat other unwanted animals.
2. Do you have time to take care of a high maintance animal? A golden retriever is a big dog and especially as a puppy it needs to run or it will develop behavioral problems. Do you have time to take it to a park a couple of hours a day?
3. Why do you want a "pure bred"? I love Golden Retrievers, the have great presonalities, but mutts will love you too if you take the time to train them.
4. Will you get flack from your Korean neighbors? If it starts barking or if you are not extrodinarly dilligent with your sanition, your neighbors will complain about the dirty 'weigoog" with the dog.
Some things to think about. I worked at a humane society, you are doing a much kinder act by adopting a stray than encouraging the breeding of dogs. |

Yeah the most important thing to consider is the Why. Don't get a dog unless you plan to keep it indefinitely. I hate people who come on here and try to sell their dogs because they aren't responsible enough to take care of them or they're moving into a apt. that doesn't allow dogs. The best owners plan a good part of their lives around their dogs, and golden retrievers are very loyal to their owners. They are (in my opinion) the best dogs to own because of their personalities, but it takes a lot of responsibility to take care of them, especially when they are puppies. |

Just because some Koreans will tell you "Yellow dogs are the best for eating!" doesn't make it true.
Just get yourself, say, a cocker spaniel puppy or chihuahua. |

Hey you can find them on korean websites there are many korean websites who list private breeders... your GF is korean then she can find them VIA Naver pretty easy and find a golden retriever NP.. a pure bred in this country is about 200-400. hahaha dont get to frustrated when the people on this board attack you for wanting to buy a beautiful new pure bred animal. They attack everyone for wanting such things.
Live and let live I say... problem is hippies never say that...
Live and let us tell you how to live... same as republicans if you ask me... But I am Canadian so what do I know about hippies or republicans.
anyway just having a laugh I will try and get a great website from my GF later I cant remember exactly what it is now... but get her on Naver
Obviously if you come looking for a goldren retriever a mutt is not going to do much justice haha.. Beautiful dogs man I wish you luck. |

Does she know how big they get? If she lives in an apartment, remind her that big dogs make big poop...and a lot of it. She also has to consider the damage that a large dog, especially a sporting dog, will do to her apartment while she's at work. It's like all those huskies I used to see about 4 years ago (talk about a stupid trend for a country where most people live in apartments). You don't see many of them anymore. I just hope they were put down humanely. |

My advice: Find a picture of a golden retriever...take it to the photo shop, blow up as big as you can, hang it on the wall. You will save yourself and the dog a lot of grief in the future! |
