A rather sad story about a woman researcher at the University of Washington who had an abusive ex, got a restraining order, and then he came to her work place and killed her (and turned the gun on himself after).

Sadly this is an all too common story. So many women more or less sign their death warrants when they sign a restraining order against an ex. It's the thing that drives the ahole over the edge. It's a legal document that confirms for him (and the world he's afraid of) that the relationship is really, really over. He can't maintain his fantasy world any more and there is only one way out.

This is not to say that women should not get them. I know women who have got them and they've worked. It's just sad and frustrating that sometimes it's the "wrong" thing to do. In a perfect world, a woman who has such a monster stalking her would get a cop outside of her door 24/7 for a few weeks after a judge issues such an order.

I for one would be happy to pay for that in my taxes.

Sad story indeed.

Let's not forget, insane & violent "fatal attraction" etc. type black widow women need seriously effective & meaningful restraint, along with a good dose of relaxing personal "therapy" as well.

Unfortunately this is only all too rarely the case.

The most crime free societies are the harmonious traditional ones of the forest. Every persons needs are met, there is no alienation, and everyone has a vital and clear purpose. Not so modern society.

They also tend to be very small in number. If one out of 100,000 people are murdered a year, a community of 300 people won't have a murder (statistically) for a rather long time.
