Pyramid's Secret Doors to Be Opened
Rossella Lorenzi, Discovery News

March 20, 2007 Doors will soon open to reveal one of the mysteries of the Great Pyramid in Giza, Dr. Zahi Hawass, chief of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, told Discovery News in an exclusive interview.
Hawass, one of the world's leading Egyptologists, said he will show what lies behind secret doors inside the 4,500-year-old pharaonic mausoleum by the end of this year.
"Finally, people all over the world will know what is behind the second door in the southern shaft and the third door in the northern shaft," Hawass said.
Built in 2550 B.C. for the pharaoh Cheops, also known as Khufu, the Great Pyramid is the largest of a family of three pyramids on the Giza plateau, on the outskirts of Cairo.
The last remaining wonder of the ancient world has lost little of its original height of 481 feet, and contains 3.4 million cubic yards of material. Its base covers an area of 13.1 acres, which could accommodate the cathedrals of Florence, Milan, London's St. Paul's and Rome's St. Peter's and still have plenty of space.
The monument has long been rumored to have hidden passageways leading to secret chambers, and archaeologists have puzzled over the meaning of four narrow shafts deep inside the pyramid since they were first discovered in 1872.
Two shafts, extend from the upper, or "Kings Chamber" exit into open air. But the lower two, one on the south side and one on the north side in the so-called "Queen's Chamber" disappear within, deepening the pyramid mystery.
Widely believed to be ritual passageways for the dead pharaoh's soul to reach the afterlife, these 8-inch square shafts remained unexplored until 1993, when German engineer Rudolf Gantenbrink sent a robot through the southern shaft.
After a steady climb of 213 feet from the heart of the pyramid, the robot had to stop in front of a mysterious limestone slab adorned with two copper handles.
Nine years later, Hawass performed an investigation of the southern shaft on live television. As the world held its breath, a tomb-raiding robot pushed a camera through a hole drilled in the copper handled door only to reveal another door.
The following day, Hawass sent the robot through the northern shaft. After crawling for 213 feet and several sharp bends, the robot came to an abrupt halt in front of another limestone slab.

Maybe it will uncover secrets that suggest advanced knowledge by an ancient civilization, like the following article indicates:
3. ANCIENT EGYPTIAN FLIGHT TECHNOLOGY
BY VRIN PARKER
Evidence has been found that the Ancient Egyptians had a functioning understanding of Flight Technology. In 1898, in an ancient tomb, in Saqqara, Egypt, a scale model of a very advanced type of cargo-carrying pusher plane or powered glider was discovered. It has been dated to be around 2200 yrs old. I personally believe it to be older. Because it was discovered before the era of modern flight, it went unrecognized and was stored in a box labeled "wooden bird models."
It sat in the basement of the Museum of Cairo for decades, until it was rediscovered by Dr. Khalil Messiha. Dr. Messiha has made a life study of these ancient models. The discovery was deemed so important that the Egyptian Ministry of Culture assigned a special committee to study it. The results of the findings were so impressive that a special exhibit was set up in the central hall of the museum with the artifact as the centerpiece. It was labelled "An Ancient Model Airplane." The following is a direct quote from the source, written in 1972.
"First of all, this thing has the exact proportions of a very advanced form of what is called a pusher-glider that is still having the "bugs ironed out of it." This device is actually a glider that will almost stay in the air of itself so that even a tiny engine would keep it going at speeds as low as 45 to 65 m.p.h. while it could carry an enormous pay-load. The whole business depends upon the strange shape and proportions of the wings. These, as you will see from the drawing, curve down at the tips. This is called a "reversedihedral wing." Now we have the startling shape of the Concorde, the design of every part of which was planned to give this juggernaut the maximum lift without detracting from it's speed. And so what do we see? The ancient Egyptian airplane model has the same wing form and proportions as the Modern Concorde jet. It seems rather incredible to us that anybody, for any reason, should have devised just such a model over 2000 yrs ago. Is this another "left over" from some greatly advanced civilization....It looks like it is." End quote For those who have the Vedic Scriptures as their manual to understanding history, this info is not really a surprise. Most modern researchers would rather blindly search for facts with little or no reference, and thus they are constantly forced to revise their positions. However, researchers who accept the Vedic Scriptures as accurate manuals to the realities of the Universe, are rewarded again and again with positive and accurate findings...

I second that. That "door" they opened a few years ago, they found yet another stone. Graffenburg's Door or some crap like that? I don't think it's a door per se. It's just a stone lowered into position, the door handles are just metal bits they sunk into the stone to lower it into position.
Rteacher, they will not discover an ancient flying machine. You're living in a fantasy world.

or untold riches?............
Another one like King Tut surely awaits buried in a place time forgot, long lost, but finally found...
It was a joy seeing the King Tut exhibition at the Chicago Field Museum last summer. Want more of that.... |

Fascinating stuff, Igotthisguitar: keep us posted.
I wonder why it's taken so long to reach this point? Why weren't these hidden chambers explored earlier?
I knew these pyramids were huge but if they could indeed hold all those cathedrals, that's incredible.
To me, the single most amazing aspect of the pyramid builders is that it was an all-consuming task. In the modern world we have nothing even remotely occupying an entire culture's attention, at least not in architecture. |
