Anyone going to the Seoul Motor Show? The women, 'em cars,
are great. But this year I'm not going. Why? Kintex SUCKS!
It is in the middle of nowhere. There is nowhere to go after the
show. The restaurants are crap.

The show used to be held at KOEX in Gangnam. I think it was
much better there. Lots of good restaurants(by Korean standards)
nearby.

BTW if anyone goes please post pics of the new "models".

Yeah, the models are supposed to be a lot classier this year. The show has also gotten a lot of bad publicity recently about the race car girls they used to employ.

I was there yesterday, and if they've cut down on the number of models I'd have loved to have been there last year. There was at least one scantily clad model per car, heck even the buses & trucks had models and some of them were really giving it the porn star pouting & thrusting of breasts to keep the photographers happy. The only car company that did something slightly different was Audi who employed male models, as you can imagine their stand was suitably empty...

Ugliest cars in the world award goes to American trucks and European junk cars.

Anything made by General Motors is a visual affront to Driving. Dodge (Daimler-Chrysler) is making some cool looking stuff these days, though.

Went today hoping it would be cleared of the Kims, how wrong I was.

I think I saw perhaps the best looking girls to date since I first came here so it was kind of worth it. They are models after all (with a bit of enhancement might I add). There were some blokes but no one was taking pictures hahaha.

Otherwise, there were no exotic cars other than Porsche and hardly any Japanese brands. It is of course a Korean motor show and its pretty obvious seeing the international stands outnumbered by the Korean ones. I had a feeling that they were putting a quota on how many foreign cars they could put on display at the show. Regardless, where are the Chinese companies?

Anyway :

Most impressive stand - Honda, everyone goes to see ASIMO the Honda robot. The stand and videos were also very impressive but they only showcased models sold in Korea, their hybrid cars and a brief look on Honda racing (one F1 car was on display where Japan had like 5).

Best prototype car - Peugeot, had one eye-popping semi car with only one wheel at the rear. Looked hot. Runner up goes to the 4 wheel sterring Jeep with a hemi.

Best car - No Enzos, no Veyrons, no Diablos. Best car there was the Porsche 911 Turbo which was pretty poor considering the other car shows that I've been to.

Best music/video - Chrysler, the music was rocking and it actually had a theme, the others had mostly techno/trip-hop stuff that were played way too loud. Still, they sounded better than M2 (don't ask).

I won't say too much about the Korean prototypes at the show except they looked a lot like the Japanese ones. So much for originality.

Ugliest cars? Hahaha, the Chairman of course!

Oh well, I came, I saw, I hit the road.

Next Beijing.
