Were in Semana Santa (Holy week) in Costa Rica and it indeed lasts a whole week.

San Jose totally shuts down. Everyone goes to the beach and/or have family and religious plans. The Catholic faith totally dominates the population here.

Liquor of any kind cant be sold after midnight last night until next Monday. This includes bars, casinos, stores, restaurantstodos. Everything is closed; the streets are empty.

Their commitment to their faith is extraordinary and most admirable.

Many businesses have been closed all week. We even shut down operations today at two oclock and will not continue until next Tuesday.

Nowadays Costa Rica is becoming a fairly diverse population with all the foreigners moving here to retire, work, invest, enjoy paradise, the strength of the dollar, etc.

But I heard not one single complaint about the traditionsonly admiration and respect.

Happy Semana Santa

I used to think that cartoon was funny, but after the most recent South Park episode no Easter Bunny jokes will ever be able to compete.
