Sure does seem to be a lot of us on this board. I've met a few of ya, but I'm curious if there's anyone new.
Also, I'm wondering what your plans are for moving back. I had planned to get things rolling in the next few years, but housing prices just don't seem to want to cool off.
For those of ya over here... are you planning on moving back? |

my wife and I are planning to stay in Korea for as long as possible. we had planned to back to Calgary after 5 years, but with the housing prices we think it's better to live here and visit there every year or so. |

Hey.. my husband and I came to Korea in November.. freshly married and out of college too. We wanted to do some travelling etc. We're unsure about what we're going to do, because although we definately want to go back to Canada to settle permanently, Calgary isn't the easiest place for young people to start out.. if you want to buy a house and such.. So, for now- we're just enjoying our free apartment and seeing how it goes. |

I've been here for almost 6 years, got married, had a beautiful baby and my family is now moving back, permanently. I would prefer to live in Calgary where I know which way is up, but we might start out in Edmonton (god forbid!), where there are more jobs (namely in the government).
A Calgarian friend who I recruited several years back left recently and he's teaching ESL in downtown Calgary now.
Ironically, when I leave, the couple that will be replacing me and another teacher will be from Calgary (I even recognise the guy from his picture... I must have seen him on campus at the U of C at some point). |

This makes no sense. I'm a Calgarian, so it would go to say that if I would move BACK to somewhere, I would move there. How can one return to a place where they have never stayed? |

I wasn't born and raised in Calgary, but I lived there for a short time. (I'm from Ponoka )
That being said, if I were to move back to Canada I would probably settle down in Calgary. Although I don't see my self going back any time soon. |

I want to go see the new glass floor installed in the Calgary Tower the next time I go back. Here's a picture a guy took standing on it:

Calgary is cool and I like it, but I plan to return to Saskatoon. The housing prices are a lot more reasonable. You can get a 4 bedroom house with a garage, a dog, and 1.5 children for 200,000 or less. |

I just got here 2 months ago from the frozen arctic wasteland known as Calgary.
Just had a fresh dump of snow yesterday. Certainly don't miss that and I certainly don't miss how mind numbingly boring it can get there.
Oh yes, and the LRT still sucks big time. |

Ah, it's so refreshing to read stuff from Calgarians who don't have their heads up their own asses about how awesome Cowtown is ("cool" is reasonable, though) compared to other Canadian cities. So many make it sound like it's Shanri-effin'-la, when it's really not that much better from Edmonton (although it certainly is better- mostly.)
And yeah, I'm from Deadmonton, and no I don't think it's "The City of Champions."
(I will also readily admit that the Oilers suck this year, but assert wholeheartedly that I hope the Flames get swept out of the first round. ) |

Calgary is my hometown, so I love it. Hate of ones own birthplace is hate of yourself.
But, I have to admit, if I wasn't born there, I probably wouldn't think that much of Calgary. |
