I noticed last night that I no longer have Arirang cable TV station and wondering if it was taken down from the Korea cable network?

I noticed I no longer have movie channels or National Geographic either, just a bunch of paid advertisements, korean shows, and flickering channels. Perhaps this could have to do with my cable possibly not paid on time. I do not know as my school is supposed to be paying the bills and then they deduct it from my pay. Yes, I have been paying 8,800 Won per month for basic cable and even paid a 22,000 won transfer fee one month ago for moving.

So I want my channels back if they still exist. I do not know if the cable network changed its' channel lineup or if I am getting jacked.

Any info is greatly appreciated as I watch TV regularly after I get home from PC room of a night since I lack internet at home as to not be bored. Not much to read here either, no newspapers, books, ditto, except internet in PC rooms. So I need my English speaking TV channels back.

I have had Arirang and Nat Geo for 10 months and, despite having thought I watched both last night, I now realise I didn't. Nat Geo has moved from channel 37 to channel 40 whereas Arirang is hanging out on channel 42, formerly 45.

What the f...?

That's like the BBC hopping off to channel 17.

Oh Korea.....

Quite impressive TV here is so awful I don't notice when it absconds ha ha

For some unknown reason, the cable companies seems to rearrange the channels every 4 or 5 months. So, your desired station might be on a different channel.

Yup. My channels changed too just outside of Daegu a couple of days ago. Not missing much though if you can't find them.

Basically channels pay for contracts to screen their stations and every few months the contracts come up for renewal.....

Arirang must have thought it wasn't worth screening in changwon city...

It has been taken off the station listing.....

i noticed there are 3 crappy new drama channels though

Don't worry Mr. and/or Ms. Scott, I'm in the same boat as you. Well, sorta except I only flip thru the channels once every two weeks and give up after about 3 minutes. The past couple of months, this is what I've observed:

- about 1/6 of the channels tune it at such a low volume it's impossible to hear them
- I only have 3 English channels, 2 of which are at low volume, and all of which would suck even by US standards
- The English language discovery channel is gone
- There is no Arirang
- Home shopping channels abound
- Plenty of shows about Korean food or some other aspect of Korean life that's only broadcast in Korean with no English subtitles and one would imagine any living Korean would find boring beyond belief, but a foreigner might enjoy but can't understand a word of what the old dude is saying

That about sums it up. I think my TV used to 나와 On! Plus or whatever the Konglishy English channel was, but now it's even more badder than it ever was. A total wash. (I live in Seoul.)

My recommendation to you: get yourself a cheapazz computer and start downloading stuff from TorrentSpy with Azureus. For 10 years I didn't watch TV, then I found out about bittorrents.. dear lord..

I've only been back 3 weeks now. The cable was already set up in my apt. when I arrived: AFN, CNN Int., movie channels and, yes, Arirang. I rarely watched it the first time around except for that poor man's "Jeopardy!": "The Contenders". Is that still on and if so, when?

What the heck kind of syntax is that?

If you want to assail someone's syntax.. you'd better be on point yourself.

I guess it really doesn't matter what you say, if the grammar is wrong, then obviously you don't know anything about which you write.
