It's clear that a clear concept of race will never be agreed upon, so we just have to keep checking one of those ridiculous demographic choices such as white (who does this represent, Asian women?), black (as in Nigerian black, or Moroccan mocha?), African-American (if we're going to do this for Africans, why not every other ethnicity in America?), etc. And where are the goddam Eskimo in all this?

So, here's my proposal. It RAWKS:

Do you consider yourself to be of a) European descent b) African descent c) Middle Eastern descent d) Asian descent e) Native American descent f) Mixed descent g) I don't know because I'm a complete moron.

I actually traced my lineage back some 3 million years to some guy in Africa squatting on a tree branch, taking a dump on some other shmuck's head.

Race. Demographics. OWNED.

The thing is you need a system that makes sense universally.... it should make sense to yourself as well as to others describing you or hearing/seeing your description in all situations

A policeman going out on a APB for "a man of european descent" will have no clue what to look for

To me the current system is better than yours

Of course it takes time to learn a new system, but mine's better.

A poll on ethnicity is an original idea?

Universal? Good luck with that, Koreans don't consider themselves the same race as other Asians while westerners lump them all together.

I'm talking more about filling in demographics questionnaires than APBs. As far as the police are concerned, skin color is the only thing they have to go by other than descriptions of clothing, vehicles, etc., so they don't really count, do they?
