This is gross, but today a student ripped a huge fart in my uni class. That kind of earth-shaker doesn't just squeak out on its own. Evil or Very Mad

It reminded me of bad smells in the classroom. I remember teaching at the girls high school before, and some rooms really smelled like stinky sweat after PE class. Worse were the smells from the girls who were smelling from certain monthly occurences. Sometimes, I swear they all had the same cycle at once. I'll leave it at that.

I still remember the adult student who farted so badly that I had thought the toilets backed up.

I had a kid crap her shorts and leave them in the bathroom of the hagwon. It was during the winter special classes, so I had no idea why the kid felt so bad until later. I thought the smell had come from me because I was in such a hurry that I hadn't taken a shower and was smelling ripe. Embarassed Like I said, I was tired. All I knew was that the kid felt sad, so I tried to be extra nice. Inadverdently, that was probably what she wanted most.

One time I was walking down the hallway. All these little 2nd and 3rd grader gathered around me like bees. Anyways, I went to pick one of them up and ripped one. Not a loud one. It was a silent but deadly. The tallest of these little kids only come up to my waist. The unlucky few standing right behind me got the full blast.

Since it was silent, no one knew where it came from. Then all of a sudden the little kids were blaming the smell on each other, pointing and yelling "Bang-gu!" while holding their noses.

I ran away. I think the fat kid got the blame for crop dust.

Haha, the missus told me once of her Korean HS teacher cliiping the class around the ears and shouting for the windows to be opened when the class all seemed to be at that time of the month together.

Worst smell-Seongnam MS boys oily hair smell.Really a demon most foul walking into that, but at least they're not Bundang fairies who cry at the drop of a hat, though they will take a dump in the urinal.

Fair play! Since I've been sitting in the teachers room I am also guilty of this. I'm sure Ms. Cho who sits directly behind me has noticed but luckily she has refrained from saying anything so far. Personally, I blame the Cass Red.

I used to have my own office which the Hanja teacher insisted on sharing in the morning. There was no reason for him to be there-had a desk in the staff room-but he came in 1 afternoon after a nasty one and had to walk past me to get to his desk.

I wish the earth could have swallowed me up when he stopped and paused like-uh oh,brain stem is sending a signal.............

But I got rid of him, which for me served the greater good.

Fat kid always cops it.

Kids are perfectly capable of ripping out some thoroughly objectionable ones though

First hagwon,I had a horrid 8? year old girl who,in between bouts of scratching and kicking, would let out silent but truly deadly ones, which she was UTTERLY oblivious to.

I'd have to flee the room.Fleeing from a farty, odious 8 year old. Crying or Very sad

What do you expect? These kids dont take showers in the mornings, they go to PE class , then they play outside before coming to class. They stink to high heaven!! I always use an air freshner before class starts,,during class and after class. And some wear the same clothes for a week or more. That refresh stuff doesnt work.

I can't believe some of you fart inside. Everyone adult knows that you go to an open area to fart.

What's that one of you said? Farting because your by yourself in a teacher or computer room? What are you? A nerd?

I often just put 'LOL' when I find something amusing on-line. However, the above made me laugh so hard I very nearly fell off my chair.

That's the real power of the internet - making someone laugh out loud 3,000 miles away. Excellent.

Before Air Con was installed in our schools and I ignore them when they say turn them off in the afternoon. Makes sense eh? And I use the fans.

My room is usually cool and dry but dear gawd 40 sweaty boys after gym class, after playing outside after lunch ....Oh dear gawd I swear you can see the funk.

Also, many student do what I call the "girl dog bath" every day and then go to sauna on weekends for full on scrape all the dirt off. I love Mondays all fresh faced and scrubbed. Friday is a fight sometimes between walking around with a can of Glade Air Freshener or wearing a mask.

Air con has cured a lot of it. But I have to battle to keep fans on I try to explain we can keep the air con on a higher temp (about 75 degrees) if we use the fans to circulate the air.

Very difficult concept but they mostly they leave me alone and hope they don't find me dead with the air con and the fans going with the windows shut. Although I do see Korean teachers now and again opeing windows just a bit near the the AC to ward off instant death. Ya gotta love em!

And I clean my air filters every Friday. Which FREAKS them out. Not to mention I DO NOT EVER let a student touch anything that involves electricity. I tell them this is my classroom. If you want to tear vents off and stick gum on an Air Con unit, do it at home cuz in my class no one touches it but me. I am one of the few classrooms with Air Con unit that still is in one piece and clean.

My teachers room, with heating and sun streaming in,is,according to the thermometer,a pretty constant 27 degrees. Confused

Have asked all and sundry when they're gonna turn the heating off. They just laugh and shrug. Then the cleaning students come round with their grey mop.Makes me gag.Makes it even worse.

Even have a student that broke her ankle......cos she slipped on spit.

No wonder they can't stamp out TB.

Ok,rant over.

Classic. I laughed hard, tears in the eyes.

Reminds me of a few weeks ago, when classes were over for the day, she went to the teachers room and I nipped into her chair to check email.
I put my weight on one cheek and let a wee one slip out. It was a little smelly, and I thought I should pay the toilet a visit soon.
This was the point my co-teacher walks back into the room Embarassed .
