I'm getting creamed at Far Cry and I've even got it set at easy. Embarassed

I can't seem to aim at the bad guys in time. Would it be easier with a gamepad? It's quite frustrating to aim with a mouse.

If you are not an experienced PC fps gamer, the learning curve for keyboard + mouse can be quite steep. DO NOT DISPAIR, you will get the hang of it., and once you do, you will never consider a gamepad again. Dont get a gamepad, not really worth it imo. Make sure that you have a decent quality optical mouse (800dpi +) and a good mousepad, that will help you out alot.

My mouse is 400dpi Embarassed
I was looking at a gamepad for 30,000. Is it worth spending the same amount on a mouse (does a mouse with fancy buttons make any difference to gaming?).

I do like the gaming mice that have the extra thumb buttons, as you can map in-game controls to the extra buttons. For example, I almost always map one of the thumb buttons to either crouch/prone and sometimes one to reload as well.

You can't be getting creamed as much as me on Resistance: Fall of Man.

XBox 360 controller does work on a windows PC.

As for the wireless 360 controller, all you gotta do is buy the wireless receiver for the PC to get those to work.

A keyboard and a 5-button mouse cannot be beat.

My suggestion is to experiment with the sensitivity of the mouse. Making it higher or lower might help.

Also, practice, practice, practice. Even if you get a controller, you still have to deal with the learning curve with that.

I think I'm going to save my money for one of those electronic gloves I saw on Beyond 2000 about 30 years ago. I feel so ripped off by that program. My whole childhood was based on the promise that the future was going to have flying skateboards and robots that would tidy your room for you...

Thanks for the advice people, I wish an expert on both PC gamepads and mice could give their oppinion though (not that I haven't taken your advice on board though).

Can you kill more people with a keypad and mouse than a gamepad?

FarCry has become a bit boring now. I want to try online gaming, I've never done that before. What happens if the game happens to be illegal though? Can they track you when you log in to the server?

You will be slaughtered online if you can't deal the bots.

You want aiming practice? Do what we all did....spends years playing Quake and discover the railgun. There is no middle ground there...you hit and live or miss and splatter.

First with the bots...when you can beat "Nightmare", you have a chance of being average online.

Illegal games generally shouldn't be taken online. I't your choice, of course.
