Is there a place in/around Seoul to buy Marvel or DC comics? |

Kyobo
What the Book?
There was even a full-blown comic shop a few years back around Kangnam somewhere. Dunno if it's still in business or not, though. |

If you just want comics to read, search for the titles on Sharezaa or any other P2P. There are networks out there of dedicated comic book geeks slaving away with their scanners trying to preserve their legacy... I think it's quite noble actually... I'll probably do the same thing when I get back to my collection.
There's even a special format that let's you read them just by hitting the space bar. ".cbr" or sequential jpeg viewer... there are also a lot of PDFs. I just downloaded 15 issues of Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition Book of the Dead.
If anyone on here knows where I can find some old DC House of Mystery issues, especially "I Vampire" I would be much obliged.
If you could get onto a military post, the PX will have them as well. I have never seen a US comic book here but I'm sure like any other periodical it would be double or triple the price you would pay back home.
((( Anyone else notice that? The softer the cover, the greater the price inflation. ))) |

I kept the newspaper article when they did a profile on the place, but that was 3(?) years ago. I'd have to find the article again in my stack of articles. If I find it, I'll post it. |

Most of the bigger bookstores carry graphic novels. But their selections tend to be incomplete as far as the trade paperbacks are concerned. Also, things tend to be the "Who's who" of titles: Watchmen, We3, etc...
If you can find a monthly comic here, I'd be surprised |

Kyobo carried a few monthlies last time I was of a mind to check. Not regular titles, but they did have some (Spiderman, Avengers, Superman) |

Last great comic I read was The Dark Knight by Frank Miller. I'm trying to get back into the graphic novel, so any recommendations? |

The COEX Bandi and Lundi has a few graphic novels, too.

Of what I've found here in Korea:
Frank Miller's other work of note, Sin City can be pretty much found in every big bookstore. All of the series is pretty interchangeable, but book #1, The Hard Goodbye is my fave.
We3
Epileptic
Tintin is a classic
I saw The Complete Calvin and Hobbes in one of the Kyobo bookstores, but I can't remember which one. Expensive as hell though.
Pyongyang
and Flight 3
But if capes and spandex is your thing, I also saw a number of Superman, JLA, Batman and X-Men collections here and there. If you can pick it up, The Greatest Superman Stories Ever Told is a good read. If only for the final story in the collection What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way? which was all sorts of awesome. |
