Is this a joke?

My school is great, but leaving the weekend behind for a Monday?

Love isn't the word.

I love it too
I ride in with my colleague, we get hot cheesy bread from the campus bakery, she rushes off to her 1st class, I mooch off to my office and drink coffee, eat bread and cruise the net and read emails, then I teach a culture class for 75 minutes and then my day is done. What's not to like?

I love mondays because my 2 of my favorite classes are on monday.

I hate monday also because 2 of my worst classes are that day too.

Monday is:

good class
bad class
good class
bad class
teach first graders.

Teaching the first graders just tipped the balance to the "I hate mondays".

I teach the first class and I hate it. These kids have weekend hangover. The same class that I hate on Monday is my favorite class on Friday afternoon. It's amazing how a different time changes their attitudes completely.

Mondays = ouch.

It takes me an hour plus to drive the 12km to work.

Every other day it's 30 minutes.

At least my schedule is light.

I love it only because I know it will be one more week complete on my contract and then I can return to a Thailand beach.

Can I ask if you have made any plans following your contract completion? Do you intend to return to the UK or find another job in Asia? I ask because my contract will be up in August and I'm finding it difficult to decide on my next job - stay in my current school, look for a uni job in Korea, or just go somewhere else.

Had a solitary class then was told the students need to prepare for mid-term exams so I'm not needed.

I plan on taking 6 to 24 months off to travel and be a beach bum after contract completion. After that time if the position in my current town is open I would like to return here. If not I will seek a similar position. I plan on doing this over the next several year hopping I can find 2 or 3 towns that I like and keep returning after some time off. It may change over time but that is my intent right now.

Like any job this one has its frustrations and disappointments. However, compared to the competitive world of banking and government that was my previous career, this job is a cake walk.

It is very important to me to be an effective teacher, who is always improving, but frankly it is still not a difficult job and the work load is light.

Also the transient nature of the one year contract system is great. I could not work for a year back in the States then leave for 6 to 24 months and come back to a good job again. Right now, I am enjoying this arrangement.
