I was reading one thread where people were suggesting arriving in November to look for March uni positions. That could be a bit expensive, in that you'd be there four months before starting work. Where I'm working now in China, I could work the fall term, and then arrive in Korea to look for uni Jobs in late January. But I read one post where someone commented that most of the good schools have already done their March hiring by then?

How early do you think one needs to arrive on site to to be in a good position to hunt for the March uni positions?

Thx .... mep

I hope that you have a Master's if you think you are going to get a good uni job in Korea.

He/She has a Ph.D. and university teaching experience. The problem is that the OP has been asking the same questions for months now!

MEP...look on the websites for the schools I sent you and simply APPLY! Send them an e-mail with your CV. You worry far too much, my friend. You WILL get offers, and they WILL let you know when to come for an interview.

I understand and appreciate planning and caution, but you are taking it up a notch into scaryville.

This is all true. Interviews are as early as October, as late as early December. Most uni staff are on vacation from Xmas to late Feb. There are some exceptions, but the ads are posted online and in papers in the fall, not in January.

Thank you Pyongshin Sangja for the relevant and extremely important response. So it turns out that coming in late January probably would be too late. Good thing I know that now!! It will have a major impact on my plans.

Again, you won't have to come over until you get interviews lined up. Just make sure they know that you will PROBABLY be available to interview in Korea. With your qualifications, even a phone interview will probably suffice.

Well you could have had a job paying 3.5 a month with a phone interview. I know one university that just hired people over the phone because it was in the middle of the semester and they had no choice.
