Three things can happen with SMOE housing:
1. You get a nice apartment of varying size, usually not too far from your school.
2. You get placed in the Co-op near Dongdaemun. People that live there have about 35 other foreign teachers in their building and a central location in Seoul, but the size of the room is a joke. I don't know about pyongs, but think of a college dorm room and cut it down a bit. Probably about 5 meters wide from desk to wall and 6 meters long. There's a bed to take up part of that space. The bath room and kitchen are about 1.5 by 2 meters.
3. You can get 500,000 won per month for a housing allowance.
Many SMOE teachers will not return next year if their school and SMOE don't find them bigger accomidations. |

| well, if they give you housing allowance, do they also take care of key money? or is that the responsibility of the teacher? |

I'm pretty sure that's the responsibility of the teacher. 500,000W is much better than the 300,000W that GEPIK provides |

| SMOE contract is gonna put the pressure on GEPIK. When it comes time for me to renew, I'm gonna show the SMOE contract to my school and tell them that I'm leaving unless they can sweeten the deal well enough to make me stay. |

True, but housing is more expensive inside the city of Seoul. |

Yeah, but it's impossible to find a place for 300,000/month when you live in Bundang. I'm sure there are other suburbs like this as well. I'm actually trying to get out of my place so I can move into the school provided housing since I currently pay 600,000/month. |
