|
|
I need to pick up some new shirts for work but I am confused about the size I need. All the shirts I have seen have simply been size 95 or 105, etc.
Is there a simple conversion for collar sizes? I have done a google search and searched this site but nothing has helped me...
Thanks in advance for any help given |

| I don't think they have the variety of sizes (or anything else for that matter) in Korea that we are used to. Possibly at the upscale department stores, but then that gets expensive. If you are oddly sized, why not have them made for you? |

If you are proportionate to the avg korean, then the sizes will fit you. If you seem to fit into a 105, then get it and let them tailor it smaller to fit you, if not then get them tailor made.
i'm a 16.5/34-35 shirt size, but have problems with two shirts that i got in size 105 since they are about 2 inches too short for my arms. |

If you're talking about dress shirts, remember that Koreans for the most part are shorter than us (me, anyway), so the sleeves will probably be too short, as well as not being able to tuck it in. Most stores have a table of 10,000 won shirts for sale. Try out a couple. Keep the ones you like and throw away the rest.
I recommend Hamilton Tailors in Itaewon for shirts.

The shirt sizes that you see are the chest measurement in centimeters.
Time to either:
+Dig out a tape measure and find out what size you are.
+Try a few on for size.
+Get some tailor made.
To get inches, take the size and divide by 2.5
90 = 36"
105 = 42" |

Thanks for the replies. I went and got myself one of the 110 sized ones and they are just about good enough... only problem is the fabric was so flimsy you could see all my tats through the shirt and I really don't want to go freaking the kids out at school...
Now all I need is to find some in darker colours... |

I don't know why they like those see through shirts, and then where a wifebeater underneath (tanktop, vest, whatever for all you non-americans)
My husband never buys shirts here for that reason. The teachers at his elementary school asked him one day why he didn't wehre those see through shirts. Apparently Korean women think they are sexy!?! |

Who in the heck would wear a dress shirt without a wifebeater underneath? Never heard of such a thing. You like the itchy starch on your skin feeling? Ewwww. Not to mention, nipples show through on ANY white dress shirt unless it's a pinpoint style. |

| My husband wears thicker "western" style shirts and a tshirt underneath. Wife beaters are for, well, wife beaters and rednecks. And Koreans, who apprently like to show off that they are wearing wifebeaters. |

Western style shirt as in Howdy Doody? Is he a mechanic? What's he got against undershirts?

...and for anyone in the West, or East, with a job, and wears a suit and tie OVER the A-shirt.
Seriously, men who wear suits, wear undershirts. Are you seriously trying to argue the opposite? You may want to reconsider your, uh, stance. |

Where are you from? I think somewhere we are using hte wrong term.
first layer= white plain undershirt with short sleeves, which we call at tshirt where i'm from in the States
second layer= button up, collared, dress shirt (NOT see through). I don't mean cowboy shirt, i just mean not see through mesh like the Koreans wear in sumer
third layer= suit or jacket if necessary
And sorry, but tanktop undershirts are never OK in my book.... unless you are trying out for COPS |

From my area in the states, Chicago & Maine, they are undershirts. What do you call a T-shirt then? You know, worn alone with jeans, any color, perhaps writing on it.

Again, any white dress shirt that is not a pinpoint stitch will be see-through. (I can't believe you are arguing this) Those see-though shirts Koreans wear are 80% polyester-blend, almost 100% see-through.

You're an idiot, for not being able to grasp that A-shirts are the more common undershirt, oh, say by a 75/25% ratio for typical salarymen the world over.
Sure, you see them on COPS, too bad you can't get your brain around the fact the the reason is that A-Shirts are rather ubiquitous. |
