They were released after the woman told police she did not want to punish them.

No one to blame for the release other than the woman. She should have pressed charges, for sure. They would have thrown the book at these guys, and rightfully so.

Here's a question...does the military have the ability to settle disputes here financially the same way that private citizens always do? I mean to say, is it possible the US military threw a large chunk of cash at her to get her to drop charges?

So by "us", you're saying "us koreans with moderately high english skills who browse this website looking to stir up shit that was discussed last week?"

They aren't teachers; they are soldiers. The military has lowered its requirements for people joining. That could be part of the problem. I am not sure. Soldiers, generally, have a higher degree of people from poor backgrounds. However, also many have degrees, are religious, kind, and good. Officers have degrees. There are also 28,000 soldiers. You are going to have some who behave very badly out of the 28,000 people. It is impossible not have some misbehaving soldiers. I personally have nothing against the American soldiers I've met. I have had pretty good discussions with officers and soldiers. Some are bad, misfits, but there are also English teachers who smell like soju and go to class to teach.
I even knew of one hagwon (I didn't work there) where the Korean boss had an Englishman who drank all the time work and teach kids there part-time in an illegal fashion. The fellows regular job was a public school job.
American soldiers for decades have been defending South Korea.
Are they all saints and good? No. Violence against women happens a lot in Korea also from Korean men towards women. I have heard too many stories about that as well. Let's not condemn all soldiers. Is bad behaviour a problem among many soldiers? Yes.

i doubt they even did it, or they probably would have definitly been slammed hard by korean law, especially cause the girl was a police officer, and you bastards really got to stop sterotyping the military as a whole even if 2 soldiers raped a woman it doesnt mean that they represent most soldiers, its the same as a black man stealing that doesnt mean all black people steal, but koreans LOVE to protest so there is bound to be a shit load of them out side the military bases with picket signs

I deleted my entries after learning that the topic was already discussed. I should have done a better search before having had posted it.

Yes, my writing was atrocious. I typed it quickly before a class and did not bother to proofread it.

Anyway, I do not need any help with TOEIC. Actually, I have already been helped as the need to proofread what I write has been reinforced.

I don't mind a little correction - that is how I learn.

Thank you
